Way of the Daoist[edit]

Monk Subclass

The way of the Daoist is a new tradition created by the martial artist Warrenie who was inspired by one of friends wild physical might that relies on stimulating the practitioners life energy or Yang Ki for the purposes of extreme martial arts

Body of Yang

At 3rd level, you gain the ability to sharpen your mind and body. you senses grow sharper giving you Advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks.

Additionally, you now use Dexterity instead of Strength to calculate jump height and distances, and for checks made with the Athletics skill for jumping.

Yang Mode

Also at 3rd level, you can spend your bonus action and 3 Ki points to oversaturate your body causing it to grow stronger temporarily. Physically your eyes gain a slight yellow glow, you grow a foot taller and your muscles balloon in size to fill out your frame. You gain the following benefits:

  • You gain temporary hit points equal to twice your monk level.
  • Your melee attacks deal additional damage equal to a roll of your martial arts die.
  • Your jump distance is multiplied by 5.
Enhanced Senses

At 6th level, you grow to master your enhanced senses giving you proficiency in Perception. If you already have proficiency in Perception, you now have double proficiency.

In addition, you can take the Search action using a Bonus Action.

Extreme Yang Mode

Starting at 11th level, when you activate Yang Mode you can spend 3 additional Ki points to boost your strength further. Physically your height increases by 4 feet, your muscles balloon further and yellow Ki radiates off your body shedding dim light in a 5 foot radius around you. You gain the following benefits:

  • The bonuses from Yang Mode double.
  • You count as one size larger.

After Extreme Yang Mode ends do a DC 15 Constitution save, or suffer a level of exhaustion.

Liquid Ki

At 17th level, you learn to condense the life energy in your body in a liquid bead of yang Ki. As an action you can spend all of your hit dice to create a bead of ki inside your body. When you use this action you must have all your hit dice for it to work and must succeed on a DC 20 wisdom saving throw to create a bead. If you fail the saving throw your hit dice are still spent and you gain 2 levels of exhaustion.

When you successfully create a bead it is stored in your heart chamber, which can hold a maximum of 3 beads at a time. While you have liquid ki in your body you can release a bead inside your bloodstream to give you a boost.

As a bonus action when you hit a target with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 bead and generate one of the following effects:

  • You add cause additional damage equal to a roll of your martial arts die per 2 hit dice contained inside the bead.
  • You roll the hit dice inside the bead, and regain hit points equal to the number rolled.
