Warrior of the Wild Shape[edit]

2024 Monk Subclass

This druidic order of monks believe that enlightenment lies not in detachment, but in connection to the animal instincts within. By harmonizing their mind with the animal inside, they can shifts themselves into animal forms, wether it's to gain the freedom to explore the natural world, or to defeat those who would try to shackle them.

Level 3: Shape of the Wild

As a Bonus Action, you can focus your energy into a transformative force, temporarily taking on the form of a beast.

You can only use this ability while you aren’t wearing armor or wielding a shield.

When you use this ability, choose an inclination of beast: Hulking, Stalking, or Stinging. You transform to resemble an animal of your choice that matches the chosen inclination. Whatever your appearance, your chosen inclination determines the benefits and changes you receive while transformed this way (see the list below):

Hulking Beast (e.g. a bear, horse, elk, elephant, giant boar, ect.)
-Your size becomes Large.
-When you transform, and at the start of each of your turns, you gain temporary hitpoints equal to half your Monk level (rounded up).
-If your Strength score is lower than your Wisdom score, it becomes equal to your Wisdom score.
Stalking Beast (e.g. a wolf, fox, mountain lion, dog, hyena, ect.)
-Your size becomes Medium or Small (you choose when you transform).
-Your movement speed is increased by 10.
-You have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks involving smell or hearing.
-You have Darkvision up to 60 ft (or an additional 60 ft if you already had Darkvision).
Stinging Beast (e.g. a spider, scorpion, snake, plague rat, ect.)
-Your size becomes Tiny, and you can squeeze through spaces as small as one inch in diameter.
-You have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.
-Whenever you deal damage with your Unarmed Strike, you can deal poison damage instead of its normal damage type.
-Once per turn, when you deal poison damage to a creature, you can attempt to debilitate it. The target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target has the Poisoned condition until the start of your next turn.

No matter which you choose, your transformation also has the following effects for the duration:

You cannot speak, cast spells, activate magic items or potions, benefit from armor or shields, or make any attacks other than Unarmed Strikes. Your ability to interact with objects and use equipment is limited by the anatomy of your new form. Your creature type is replaced with Beast for the duration of the transformation. Spells cast before the transformation can be maintained normally.

Whenever you deal damage with your Unarmed Strike, it can deal your choice of slashing, piercing, or its normal damage type.

All your other scores and traits remain the same, and you maintain the ability to perform all of your Monk abilities, as well as any class, race, or feat abilities that aren’t limited by your new form’s restrictions and anatomy.

When you transform, any nonmagic equipment you are wearing or carrying merges into your new form, having no effect until the transformation ends. You may choose to continue wearing magic equipment, which is temporarily reshaped and resized to fit your new form for the duration, otherwise it merges with you for the duration of the transformation and has no effect.

The transformation ends after 10 minutes, if your hitpoints are reduced to 0, if you become unconscious, or if you use the ability again to take on a new inclination. The transformation can be ended at will at any time.

You can use this feature once and you regain the expended use when you finish a long rest. While you have no uses available, you can spend 3 Focus points to use this feature again.

Level 3: Beastial Bond

You can cast expend 1 Focus Point to cast Speak with Animals. You can both cast it this way even and can use it to speak with beasts even when transformed by Shape of the Wild.

Additionally when you fail a Wisdom (Animal Handling) check, or any Charisma check directed at a Beast, you can use your reaction to spend 1 Focus point to reroll the roll and add your martial arts die, potentially turning a failure into a success.

Level 6: Broadened Shape of the Wild

When you use Shape of the Wild, the maximum duration is now one hour. When transformed using Shape of the Wild, you can use a Bonus Action and expend 1 Focus point to change forms and shift into a new inclination, such as from Hulking to Stalking (this does not refresh the duration).

While transformed by Shape of the Wild, you can use a Bonus Action to telepathically communicate a breif message to one creature you can see. It recognizes you as the sender and can immediately respond in kind. It understands you only if it is a Beast or if you communicate in a language the two of you share.

You also learn two additional inclinations to choose from whenever you activate your Shape of the Wild ability:

Swimming Beast (e.g. a shark, fish, octopus, eel, manta ray, ect.)
-Your size becomes Medium or Small (you choose when transforming)
-You gain a swim speed equal to your walk speed. Whenever you are not swimming, your speed can be no greater than 5.
-You can breathe only underwater.
-While you are underwater, creatures without a swim speed have disadvantage on attacks against you, and disadvantage on resisting your grapples.
Soaring Beast (e.g. a hawk, eagle, owl, bat, giant insect, ect.)
-Your size becomes Medium or Small (you choose when transforming).
-You have a fly speed equal to your walk speed.
-When you make a melee attack against a creature, you don't provoke opportunity attacks from that creature for the rest of the turn, whether you hit or not.
Level 11: Advanced Shape of the Wild

The maximum duration for Shape of the Wild is now 8 hours.

While using Shape of Wild, you are capable of telepathic speech audible only to creatures of your choice within 60 feet of you. Any creature who is a Beast or can speak at least one language can understand you when you speak in this way.

Level 11: Unbridled Transformation

As an Action, you can expend 8 Focus Points to cast Polymorph on yourself, requiring no components or concentration to maintain (but still limited to its usual duration). This can be done while using Shape of the Wild, but doing so immediately ends Shape of the Wild. You can end the spell early at any time.

Level 17: Effortless Adaptation

Using Shape of the Wild expends no Focus Points, and lasts until ended at will, or until you die. While using Shape of the Wild, once at the start of each of your turns you can shift from one inclination to another (no action required).
