Warforged Dolls[edit]

Mechanical beings barely as tall as a boot, capable of amazing feats of acrobatics and surprising feats of strength for such a small being.

Racial Traits
Average Height: 12 - 16"
Average Weight: 5 - 18lb.
Ability Scores: +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence or Wisdom
Size: Tiny
Speed: 5 squares
Vision: Normal
Languages: Common
Skill Bonuses: +2 Acrobatics, +2 Stealth
Damn Fast: Acrobatics is always a class skill for you.
Tiny Warrior: You have a reach of 1, rather than the reach of 0 typical for a Tiny creature. When you wield a weapon sized for Tiny creatures, you follow the rules for weapons that Small creatures do.
Living Construct: You are a living construct. As a living construct, you can attach and embed warforged components, which resize themselves automatically. You do not eat, drink, breathe, or sleep. You never make Endurance checks to resist the effect of starvation, thirst, or suffociation. All other conditions and effects affect your normally.
Unsleeping Watcher: You do not sleep and instead enter a state of inactivity for 4 hours to gain the benefits of an extended rest. While in this state, you are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.
Warforged Mind: You get a +1 Racial bonus to your Will defense.
Warforged Resilience: On death saving throws, you may take the better result of your die roll or 10.

Shrink Warforged Doll Racial Power
At your touch, an object shrinks to your tiny size or is restored to its original state.
Encounter
Minor Action Melee 1
Target: One object that is sized for a Medium or Small creature, is not inside a container, does not contain anything, and is not held, worn, or carried by anyone other than you.
Effect: The target shrinks to a size appropriate for a Tiny creature's use. The new size ends at the end of your next extended rest unless the shrunken target is on your person. The size also ends if you or another pixie uses this power on the shrunken target. While shrunk, the target keeps its game statistics, such as damage dice and weight. A shrunken weapon, however, becomes an improvised one-handed weapon for a non-Tiny creature.

These tiny constructs were designed firstly as the test-bed for the full-size warforged, but were then modified to become hidden guardians for their creators’ children. Constructed of some of the finest materials ever seen in warforged construction, their creators were sometimes so pre-occupied with creating these diminutive beings that they were sidetracked from actually building the warforged themselves. As a result, there are a surprising number of these beings waiting to be discovered and reactivated.

Play a Warforged Doll if you want...

  • To be very small.
  • Have the ability to be carried without much effort.
  • To play a race that favors the avenger, rogue and monk classes.

Physical Qualities[edit]

Looking at first glance like a tiny doll made to resemble a lightly-built warforged, Warforged Dolls are, in fact, the remnants of the early Warforged experiments that occured thousands of years ago. Unlike their full-sized cousins, however, Warforged Dolls are not quite so jarring when examined. They possess a full set of digits on their hands and feet, are not quite so mechanical in appearance – even to the point of their ‘skin’ having a variety of pigments amongst the few examples seen – and unlike full-size Warforged, the Warforged Doll possesses eyes that are crafted from precious stones, these assist their vision by bending light, and making things easier to see.

A Warforged Doll is incredibly agile, capable of feats of dexterity and agility that are almost miraculous considering their height. They are capable of jumps and leaps that rival many full-sized gymnasts, and tend to want to move almost all the time, being somewhat anxious when at rest.

Warforged Dolls have no society, much like full-sized Warforged. Additionally, many Dolls exist for years, decades, even centuries, as mere toys, passed down many generations as a much-loved toy.

Their weapons, when even available, cost double the cost of full size weapons, and very few magical weapons were ever made for Warforged Dolls, so are often 50-100% more expensive than their full-sized counterparts.

Playing a Warforged Doll[edit]

Warforged Doll Characteristics: Usually silent, constantly moving, difficult to perceive due to size.

Names: Like any other construct, names vary based on the creator. Thought is not uncommon for them to have simple names, such as toy, doll, tiny, and so on.

Warforged Doll Adventurers[edit]

Three sample Warforged Doll adventurers are described below.

Buttercup is a Warforged Doll scout. After spending over a century of inactivity as an heirloom, handed down from mother to daughter over and over again, she was finally activated by being struck by a magic missile that was aimed at her teenage owner. Immediately springing into action, the tiny Warforged Doll jumped at her owner's assailant and helped defeat the mage. Since this time she has split her time between being a tiny bodyguard for her owner and a tiny and effective scout for her owner's adventuring party.

Toy has been sitting on the top shelf of a toy shop for nearly 40 years, gathering dust and being ignored by all of the patrons. This situation was unlikely to change until the owner finally decided to do some cleaning and accidentally knocked Toy off the shelf. He plummeted twelve feet to the stone floor of the shop and bounced, the impact waking him up from his long sleep, after which he fled out of the open door of the toy shop. Since then, Toy has been defending himself as best he can, slowly gaining an understanding of unarmed combat, always prefering not to fight at all if he can help it.

Frank has been a loyal bodyguard for his adopted family for over a century. As a highly unorthodox example of a ranger, Frank uses his sling from hiding, striking swiftly and effectively in order to keep those that mean his family harm from getting to them. Because of his size, Frank often accompanies his family as a hidden extra guard, staying close to the family matriarch and her children. Few would expect that the smartly dressed 'ranger hero' toy is, in fact, a fully trained expert with ranged weapons.
