Warforged (5e Background)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

You are a construct forged for a purpose: Battle. Whether you embrace your destiny or seek to rid yourself of the shackles of those who created you, you are an adventurer now. When creating your warforged character, think about how they came to be in the situation they are in now. Why are you here? Where is your creator or creators now? What do you see your role being in the adventures that lie ahead?

Skill Proficiencies: Athletics, Intimidation

Tool Proficiencies: Warforged repair kit, plus one of the following: Jewelers tools, Masons tools, Smiths tools, or Tinkers tools.

Equipment: A Warforged repair kit (inc. spare parts, hammer, nails, bolts, screws, etc), a dungeoneer's pack, 10 days of rations (oil).

Feature: Valuable Technology[edit]

Due to the nature of who you are, you are seen as a valuable piece of technology, rather than a sentient being. People who see you might assume you belong to a fellow party member or that you work for a local business in town. Some people might even attempt to steal you and sell you off to the highest bidder or return you to your maker if possible.

Suggested Characteristics[edit]

Warforged may seem cold and emotionless to some, but they are imbued with sentience and feeling just like any other creature. They can prove themselves to be worthy allies, covering the full spectrum of alignments, but many are plagued with the ghosts of their past. Every construct must have a maker, and warforged characters might have a particularly harrowing past as they come to terms with the bloodshed they were created for and their desires for their futures.

d8 Personality Trait
1 Communicating with me is difficult, since I exhibit little to no facial expression.

7 I'm full of inspiring and cautionary tales from my military experience relevant to almost every combat situation.
8 I struggle to form a sense of identity and seek to reconcile my self-awareness and my artifice.
d6 Ideal
1 Greater Good. Our lot is to lay down our lives in defence of others. (Good)
2 Responsibility. I do what I must and obey just authority. (Lawful)
3 Independence. I must prove that I can chose my own path and do not need to be babysat by my creator. (Chaotic)
4 Might. In life as in war, the stronger force wins. (Evil)
5 Sincerity. There's no good pretending to be something I'm not. (Neutral)
6 Glory. I must win glory in battle. (Any)
d6 Bond
1 My honour is my life.

5 I have little respect for anyone who is not a proven warrior.
6 My hatred of my enemies is blind and unreasoning.
