Synapsid Arachnomorphia[edit]

All abilities are taken directly from characistics of the spiders themselves, via research. Just be glad their not as big as humans, or we would loose our assumed/presumed 'top' place on the food chain.

"Its a bird!, its a plane!, nah its just some dude who likes spiders!" Says the bored adventures looking for something to kill and loot as they walk away in distaste. LOL For this purpose, it is part humanoid and part spider.

Physical Description[edit]

"Who is that comming over the hill, is it a monster, is it a monster" screams the Gazebo Fighter..."Nah" says the wizard shooting magic missles into the darkness to the gazebo fighter "its just some player who wants to be some sort of dryder."

History[edit]

Since the begining of mans discovery of spiders, we have wondered over the marvel of all sorts of spider kindred. So when a man stares hard enough into the life of the spider, one must resist the urge to become one with it, and if not, the Synapsid Arachnomorphia are born in the mind of imaginations. If ye be human, or elf, or even an orc, the facination is the same fer some of the folk. Its bound to happen. That is to say, hidden away in some deep form of wilderness below or above, there is bound to be some small tribal encave. The culture vastly differing between some species. There may be wars, trading, or even a metropolis...somewhere.

Society[edit]

Most are solitary from their own kind for survival sake. Occasionaly there might be some civilization. Not much is known except of the dryder sort.

Synapsid Arachnomorphia Names[edit]

"There are MANY names, and some are already known. Some are yet to be given."- says the old sage pondering over the illustrated reference of them all, as he quietly turns the page to dryder to an unknown species.

Male: (with a clicking and poping sound) Clak' Der'Rop, Dro Blep Cla, Uatla Na Ha Du, etc.

Female: Cle Dra Nei, Tli Shugee Uh, etc.

Synapsid Arachnomorphia Traits[edit]

Note on Trait Replacement: The following are the general traits that each have, and sub-family's will have traits that replace simular traits, better or worse. Any trait that is not replaced, the general trait is added. Traits vary dependent up on the combinations of humanoid and arachnid. Some are stronger, some faster, some fragile, some not so much...as a rule, the traits should be 50/50 split between humanoid and arachnid traits, unless one favors one more than the other at which case any decent storyteller will work with you on these things. The following is based on general humanoid/Arachnid without any special consideration. Use this as a quick basis for general race build.

Humanoid variants + Spider variants= Centaur type humanoids.
Ability Score Increase. -1 constitution/endurance (generally speaking they are less stout than other bugs), +1 wisdom, +1 intelligence/knowledge, -1 charisma/Comeliness, +1 dexterity/agility
Age. 60-80 years
Alignment. Chaotic, Neutral
Size. Medium
Speed. Your base walking speed is 60 feet. Yes allot faster than a Centaur if you do the math and science. Climbing speed is 40 (the only logical analysis I could think of.)
Scurry. Because of their larger than normal size, as well as arachnid frame, their movent rates have been generally increased.
Partial Exoskeleton. They generaly all have at the very least partial exoskeletons, so they get at lead a d4 on damage reduction.
Awareness. They are generally more aware than most be it from eyes or hairs that pick up vibrations etc. So they are rarely supprised, or miss perception checks.
Duel/Multi Attack. They gain these feats/taits automatically as they learn to hunt.
Hunting/Foraging. They gain survival type skills automaticly.
Instinct Flight/Fight. Characters can choose one or the other to use in emergencies to get a bonus.to: movement/defence or attack/damage.
Improved Grapple. This allows the spider kind to hold/carry/grapple prey 1 size catagory bigger than themsleves.
Languages. Xhosa, Arachnid, (their humanoid counterpart language also), Common must be learned.

Lycosidae AKA Wolf Spider[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hogna_lenta_18.jpg
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_Spider

Suggested Humanoid Race: Dwarf, Halfling and other semi burrowing races.(Some traits have been combined due to unknown error that does not allow further listing.)

Ability Score Increase. +1 Constitution, +1 Agility, +1 Strength, -1 wisdom, -1 chrisma
Keen Vision/Eye Shine. +1d4 insight, perception, as well as giving them reflective protection. The light based blinding attempts are reflected back. (passive and active)
Quick Reflexes (for their keen sense of touch). + 1d4 Innititive.
Natural Camouflage. +1d4 Stealth
Burrow and Web. They can burrow in loose (Common soil) up to 25% their movement rate. granting them a bonus to stealth while having a safe place to sleep and ambush prey. The web is for carring babies, and reinforcing a burrow.
Ambush and Poison. They gain 1d4 on abush tactics. This is a mild digestive poison to help slow/paralize prey. (As seen in nature even over their own size.)

Salticidae AKA Jumping Spiders[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Phidippus_audax_male.jpg
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_spider

The jumping spider family (Salticidae) contains over 500 described genera and over 5,000 described species, making it the largest family of spiders with about 13% of all species. You might want to read up on them.

Suggested Humanoid Races: Elf, if you read the wiki, you will see why. Its the race that fits the best.

Behavior[edit]

Diurnal hunters that have a wide range of habitat. They communicate via sign language and pheromones in their web trails. Some may feed on nector or other nector related plant matter also.

Ability Score Increase. +2 dexterity, +1 intellegence, (no penalty on charisma due to the UV reflecting patterns)
Web. This web is used for safty lines, and making all purpose'Pup tents' that they can even winter over in.
Superior Vision. As mentioned on the wiki, 360 vision that extend to a variety of spectrums including UV. Suggested feat: Awareness
Grand Leap. As it is stated, "Most jumping spiders can jump several times the length of their bodies." 6x their length seems standard.
Ambush and Venom. Having made contact with the prey, hunting Salticidae administer a bite to inject rapidly acting venom that gives the victim little time to react. In this respect, they resemble the Mimetidae and Thomisidae, families that ambush prey that often are larger than the predator, and they do so without securing the victim with silk; they accordingly must immobilise it immediately and their venom is adapted accordingly.
Dimorphic Conundrum (males only). Males have a bonus on performing type actions when charming the female with drumming and humming. However they also suffer penelties against those who can also see into the UV spectrum, on stealth by the same amount, unless they cover their coloring, at wich case all they get is a minor bonus to perform checks.
|subrace= }}

Note:[edit]

I had other races filled out like dwarf hairy/armored, orc armored, goblinoid spiny and spindly, elf orb, and the very short lived high stated quick leveling gnome/fey crab spiders that only lived for about 1/2 year or one campain. I was likeing the Gnome one alot. Had +1-2 to all stats, pretty as flowers and gone in the wind just as quick. So it was almost romantic and nastalgic. They would make great quick leveling and short lived druids, and clerics, and other nature based arcana. ALL THIS DATA WAS LOST DUE TO SITE/COMPUTER ERROR.

Random Height and Weight[edit]

All Synapsid Arachnomorphia are bigger than their humanoid kind by 1d4 feet.
