Flame Breathing[edit]

Flame Breathing is a Breathing Style that mimics flames and replicates it with the user's movements, techniques and abilities. Most, if not all, known techniques and forms involve extremely powerful singular strikes which 'burns' their opponents, with most attacks being initiated from a high stance. Users of Flame Breathing also visualize themselves seemingly creating and manipulating fire when unleashing its techniques.

First Form: Unknowing Fire[edit]

The user charges towards their opponent at high speeds and aims to decapitate them in one slash. Unknowing Fire consumes all remaining movement for the round and allows the user to charge and strike the target (who must be within 30ft), dealing weapon damage + 1d6 fire damage. The attack roll is made as if it were a normal strike with the respective weapons attack modifier. If this attack misses it still consumes breathing points. This form expends a single Breath point.

Unknowing Fire can be used with increased potency.

By expending an additional Breath point, the user can add an additional 1d6 fire damage to the attack.

Second Form: Rising Scorching Sun[edit]

The user releases an arching sword slash upwards. Rising Scorching Sun requires the target to be within melee range and inflicts weapon damage + 2d4 fire damage, any fire damage associated with this attack is inflicted whether or not the attack lands due to the overwhelming power of the scorching flames. This form expends two Breath points.

Rising Scorching Sun can be used with increased potency.

By expending an additional Breath point, the user can add an additional 1d4 fire damage to the attack.

Third Form: Blazing Universe[edit]

The user swings their blade downwards in an arc. Blazing Universe requires the target to be within melee range and inflicts 3d8 fire damage on a failed dexterity saving throw and half as much on a successful one (DC 10 + STR). This form expends three Breath points.

Blazing Universe can be used with increased potency.

By expending an additional Breath point, the user can add an additional 1d8 fire damage to the attack.

Fourth Form: Blooming Flame Undulation[edit]

(Reaction, ranged attack) The user swings their blade in a circular motion that can defend them from incoming attacks. In reaction to a ranged attack, the flame breather may make a strength saving throw vs all projectile attack attack rolls made in the current round against himself and/or allies within 5ft of himself. Example: if the flame breathing user had a rain of arrows shot down upon him and his adjacent allies, he defends his group with this form as an immediate reaction. The arrows hit AC 14, 17, and 19. The flame breath’s strength save is an 18, therefore, he prevents two of the arrows from striking himself and his allies but one of the arrows land. This form expends four Breath points.

Blooming Flame Undulation cannot be used with increased potency.

Fifth Form: Flame Tiger[edit]

The user performs a series of powerful sword slashes that seemingly takes the form of a flaming tiger. This tiger of flame pursues a specific target within line of sight traveling at a rate of 40ft a round and dissipating after 1d4 rounds or after the target is struck. Difficult terrain does not hinder this creature. Embodying a supernova, this creatures flames are not easily doused and has advantage against all schools of magic using its owners saving throw values. The tiger strikes with the attack modifier of its owner, on a successful hit the tiger explodes damaging all creatures within 10ft no matter their allegiance dealing 6d6. This form expends five Breath points.

Flame Tiger can be used with increased potency.

By expending an additional Breath point, the user can add an additional 1d6 fire damage to the attack.

Flaming Soul[edit]

The flame breathing user can no longer be feared and retains movement capabilities while unconscious or asleep. The flame breathing user also retains some perception while unconscious or asleep, he can hear and feel vibrations of creatures within 5ft. This means the flame breather is entitled to his dex bonus to AC in this scenario.

Sixth Form: Burning Passion[edit]

The user performs a rallying cry, bolstering their resolve whilst calling upon the inner flames of passion. For the following 1d4 rounds, the user and allies within 15ft are rallied giving them advantage on saving throws versus charm, sleep, fear and all spells afflicting ones will power. This form expends six Breath points.

Burning Passion can be used with increased potency.

By expending an additional Breath point, the user can add an additional round to the duration.

Seventh Form: Cadeau of Flames[edit]

The user takes a high stance, his fighting spirit emblazons igniting the very air around the user. This causes the ground beneath the user to become scorched dealing 4d6 fire damage to any creature (aside from the flame breather) standing upon the scorched earth (the duration of this scorched earth is 1d4 + Con Mod), whilst also causing slashes made by the user from this 5ft area to produce sweeping flames causing damage from weapon attacks to deal half of their original damage as fire damage to 2 adjacent creatures to the target of the original attack. This form expends seven Breath points.

Cadeau of Flames can be used with increased potency.

By expending an additional Breath point, the user can take 4 + con mod for Cadeau of Flames' duration.

Eighth Form: Searing Embers, Twirling Tornado[edit]

(Standard Action + Full Movement) The user hops several inches off the ground, twirling their body in rapid motion within a flash of entering the air. The user picks a point within 60ft that they have line of sight of, they then travel to that point instantly, dealing 10d6 + Weapon Damage to all enemies within 10ft of either side of the line traveled bellowing flames in all directions. This form expends eight Breath points.

Searing Embers, Twirling Tornado can be used with increased potency.

By expending an additional Breath point, the user can add an additional 20ft to the travel distance.

Ninth Form: Esoteric Art, Rengoku[edit]

(Standard Action + Full Movement) The user unleashes a devastating dashing slash initiated from a high stance. Flames explode from the user, engulfing them in flames taking the form of a dragon before propelling the user forward, the momentum of the slash inflicting increased damage. The user selects a target within 60ft of range and explodes toward them causing all ground covered to become difficult terrain. Once the flame breather reaches their target, they must make an attack. On a successful hit the attacks damage is completely converted to fire damage and tripled. On a miss the attack can be reattempted only one additional time. This form expends nine Breath points.

Esoteric Art, Rengoku cannot be used with increased potency.

Tenth Form: Hypernova[edit]

(Special Action, usable while unconscious) The user becomes an explosive hypernova of flame igniting their own soul ramping up their natural ability at a devastating cost. As the Hypernova begins the user is rejuvenated, being cleared of all statuses, healing to maximum health, and replenishing all missing Breath points. The effect of Fanning Flames is then tripled, your movement speed is tripled, and every following form lower than Form 4 costs no breathing points. This form expends ten Breath points and consumes the users lifeforce after a failed constitution save DC 10 (this DC is increased by 2 following every successful save) or after (1d10 + Con Mod rounds). Hypernova cannot be reused while it is active. At the end of the Hypernova the user slowly turns to ash and dies after 10 rounds or a single minute, this damage is irreparable by ANY means. This form expends ten Breath points.

Hypernova cannot be used with increased potency.

Controlled Burn[edit]

Scorched earth created through the flame breather's Cadeau of Flames form no longer damages the user's allies or non-combatants (the environment or non-hostiles).

Fire & Brimstone[edit]

Scorched earth created through the flame breather's Cadeau of Flames form lasts until the flame breather long rests.

Ability Score Improvement[edit]

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Mantra[edit]

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 20th level, you gain the ability to breathe deeply and meditate for a short period of time (1 action) regaining 1 breath point for each level of mantra you have unlocked (see class features table). This ability can only be used once before a long rest.

Fanning Flames[edit]

When you reach 5th level, and again at 11th, and 20th level, your blade becomes wreathed in increasingly powerful flames dealing an additional 2d4, 4d6, & 6d8 fire damage at their respective levels. This benefit comes at the cost of not receiving additional attacks. The Flame Breathing user can never gain another attack per round, their single attack simply becomes stronger at these intervals. The flame breathing user is entitled to this damage any time they are entitled “weapon damage.”
