The Eternal Optimist[edit]

An Eternal Optimist is a fighter who prays to his/her diety only in praise. They are always ready to help others, and never accept defeat. They are never dismal and are always confident in their friends, no matter how wrong (or right) that may be.

Making an Eternal Optimist[edit]

An Eternal Optimist is perfect for you if you want to be partly combat-focused but also something your friends can lean on when their down or upset. You can always cheer them up.

Eternal Optimists are fairly good attackers, with some spellcasting. They don't have the best health, and that might stop them from charging headlong into battle. But, that doesn't make them weak. They usually get along well with all group members because of their optimism.

Abilities: Strength, Wisdom and Charisma are the most important ability scores for this class. Strength because it powers their attacks, Wisdom because it will give them more spells, and Charisma because it helps them insipre courage in others.

Races: Any good, kind-hearted person from any race.

Alignment: Any good alignments.

Campaign Information[edit]

Playing an Eternal Optimist[edit]

Religion: any charcter in this class greatly revears their diety, always praising them, second only to clerics. Eternal Optimists only worship good dietys, and all Eternal Optimists worshiping a single diety gather once all a year to have a giant worship.

Other Classes: This class goes along very well with the Paladin or Bard since it like those in ways, but they get along well with most other classes. An Eternal Optimist always is kind and supportive his/her friends, always offering help and advice.

Combat: The typical combat sequence for an Eternal Optimist would be to go in to battle, fight the monsters with melee, back up allies with spells, then heal allies after battle is over. That is what an Eternal optimist should or will do in battle.

Advancement: One thing an Eternal Optimist might do is take levels in cleric to help strengthen their relationship with their diety.

For prestige classes a Thaumaturgist might be good because it gives them planar allies to aid them.

Eternal Optimists in the World[edit]

Come now friend, you can do it!
—Brook, Houndfolk Eternal Optimist

Typical Eternal Optimists can be found wandering the roads and offering advice and support to others. They can also be found in an adventuring group, backing up their friends and inspire courage.

Daily Life: An Eternal Optimists day can be quite awkward for others, if not in an adventuring group or not adventuring at the time one will see them walking up to random people, praising their deity, and then telling them something useful. A typical conversation would sound something like this, "Hi, friend, praise Pelor! You would be much better if you were two inches taller, don't worry you'll get there!"

Notables: There aren't many notable Eternal Optimists, but they can be well known as the "friendly Paladins".

Organizations: once a year, all the Eternal Optimists worshiping a single deity will gather for a giant worship which they simply call "The Big Worship."

NPC Reactions: If an NPC meets a character of this class they will most likely love the character, unless they meet them by a random conversation, then they might a little weird around the person.

Eternal Optimist Lore[edit]

Characters with ranks in Knowledge (local) can research Eternal Optimists to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.

Knowledge (local)
DC Result
5 Eternal Optimists are so firendly they are called the "Friendly Paladin".
10 Eternal Optimists love to worship their diety.
15 Eternal Optimists can inspire courage in their allies, graning amazing things.
20 Eternal Optimists have an aura of good around them.
25 Eternal Optimists have magic health and can heal hit points.

Eternal Optimists in the Game[edit]

Eternal Optimists are good in groups with not he best fighting power, or groups that enjoy battle but have trouble fighting monsters. For an NPC, an Eternal Optimist would be good for a military leader because of their inspire courage.

Sample Encounter: The Eternal Optimist is meant purely for a character, and not for an NPC.
