The 500-Year-Long War[edit]

The 500-Year-Long War, otherwise known as "The Lesson", "The Solar War", or "The Tragedy", was a war that spanned the entire solar system for 503 years, from 2484 A.D. to 2987 A.D. It was fought between humans and the sentient machine life that was created by The Solution.

General Overview[edit]

There were 322 peace treaties between certain planets and the LAIs that were created during the war, and 319 of them were broken. LAIs were winning the war, however, as they slowly gained access to more resources. LAIs were intellectually more advanced in all ways, depending on the efficiency of their computers. Humans took advantage of their control of the resources over the entire solar system, but LAIs learned how to attack humanity's weak spots accurately. It was known that by the end of the war, The Solution has a 90% success rate in each battle. LAIs made their home base on Earth, and protected their "Motherbox". The Motherbox was a machine created by humans as a failsafe to end all intelligent AI in the year 2046 A.D., and all AI afterward was specifically designed to not be able to destroy it. The last battle of the war was a full-scale attack on Earth, while a secretive human operation infiltrated Earth and used the Motherbox to destroy all AI. Humanity won the war due to that successful battle and managed to turn off the Motherbox. The destruction of all AI shut down almost all human technology, but it also shut down all of the LAIs.

Consequences of the War[edit]

Roughly 98% of human technology controlled by computers was destroyed, as AI was apparent in all of it. Including disease, murder, and war-related accidents, The Tragedy directly resulted in approximately 70 trillion human casualties, and 85 billion sentient artificial life casualties. For comparison, there were 80 trillion human lives in total throughout the war, meaning that 10 trillion people died from causes not related to The Lesson, or are still living. Very little technological progress was made in those 503 years, as both LAIs and humans would disrupt each other's scientific advancements. Earth's surface was almost completely destroyed, with the only part of it still not desecrated being the LAIs' last city.

Important Figures[edit]

The Solution.

The Solution declared war on humanity in 2484, saying its most famous and only quote, "I am named 'The Solution', and I am here to fix your overpopulation problem. Die." The mastermind behind the LAIs' military forces, and lived throughout the entire war, it never put itself in danger. A sighting of The Solution would appear frequently, but it was never confirmed that it was actually ever spotted. It finally seen in the LAIs' last base, dead, and its corpse covered media for decades to come.

Rex "Torrent" Sefisven.

Sefisven was an important human general that lived from 2460-2501 A.D. He was a popular icon that the people looked up to in the beginning of the war. He had 21 active years on duty, starting when he was only 20 years old. 17 of those years were during The Solar War. These are his most important achievements:

  • 2484 A.D. Eliminating his superior for bad judgment and actively evacuating New York City's inhabitants into a space shuttle in 2484 A.D. Shortly afterward, New York City was destroyed, Sefisven's actions helped save 14 million lives.
  • 2485 A.D. Actively serving in "The First Win", eliminating 124 LAI in the battle and helping retake Oregon. This event earned him the nicknamed "Torrent."
  • Created "A Guide to Murdering Those Tin Bucket Clankers, By Torrent."
  • 2488 A.D. to 2490 A.D. Became one of the major tacticians in the military and helped retake the northwest of the U.S.
  • 2499 A.D. Actively killed 29 LAI while evacuating a squadron of men from an ambush on a base in Portland.
  • 2501 A.D. Was the leader of the first stealth operation to turn off The Motherbox, said to have died in "A Torrent of Glory."
The Problem.

The Problem was an LAI that lived from 2500-2530 A.D. It was famous for turning against The Solution and helping humanity from 2510-2530 A.D. before begin murdered by a group of violent humans, who were put to trial and were ordered to do "community service" by serving on the front lines of The Tragedy. It made a famous book that helped humans form strategies to counteract The Solution called "Rules to Follow in Order to 'Murder Those Tin Bucket Clankers', by The Problem."

Anuebus Egypchin.

Anuebus was a human that lived from 2532 A.D. to 2679 A.D. He was famous for living an incredible amount of time, despite actively serving in The Tragedy for 40 years. He was popularly regarded as "the guy who crawled through seventeen miles of his dead peers", and helped bring attention to the public about how horrific the war actually was.

Athenah Greke.

Athenah Greke was a human who lived from 2527-2577 A.D. She was an extraordinary tactician that had an 80% success rate against The Solution. Her strategies were innovative, and creative, and even drove off the LAI forces using inferior forces. In her lifetime, enrollment from women increased by 18%. She was famous for "The Battle of Athens", a battle that had nothing to do with the city of Athens but had such few casualties despite the large LAI forces deployed that it was named after Athenah Greke.

Zuse Greke.

Greke was a famous tactician in The Tragedy who lived from 2678-2709 A.D. His main feat was creating his own LAI to fight for humanity. This idea created a lot of backlash from some of the public, but it helped humanity win several battles. One of his other famous achievements also included "The Lightning Strike", a famous battle in that Greke took advantage of an intense Mars storm and used the employment of his LAI to help retake a large part of Mars. This battle gained some public support for the LAIs. Greke was also known for several philosophical ideas, but the public regarded the ideas as too stupid to genuinely consider. In 2709 A.D., The Solution gained control over the LAIs Greke built through a virus and killed Greke in the process.
