Talk:Way of the Boxer (5e Subclass)

Hey there. The subclass is great, but it mostly features aspects of inboxing with the exception of the 6th level muscle memory feat. Breaking Tradition, Guard, and K.O are all great and I love them, but Power Punch really shows that this is meant to be a Makunoichi Ippo subclass rather than a boxer subclass. It's well made and I'd love to use it in a game, but as a person who boxed in the past I can't help but notice the fact that you can't really play this as an outboxer. If you want to keep the theme of Hajime no Ippo, while creating more diversity, I suggest adding the Jolt Counter done by Miyata to the Power Punch options. Maybe something like giving up your advantage or one unarmed attack to prepare a counter punch that if hits would force the target to make a saving throw of some kind or be stunned until the end of your next turn. (Kind of like a reaction stunning strike that gives you advantage for your next turn and lets you do more power punches without having to use ki points)

Sup dude, i'm glad you liked it! I probably will not make changes myself right now, due to time constraints, but i think your input is valid and i agree that this sub is too restricted on Ippo. If you want to make the changes to create an outboxer, feel free to add it. If you decide to not do it, i can perhaps do it myself when i got the time to do it. Either way, is nice to see the opinion of an actual boxer. Maybe you like my Boxer class, it goes more in depth on boxing, and i would like to see the opinions of a boxer about it.
