Talk:Ultimate Monk (3.5e Optimized Character Build)/Kalashtar Progression

Just a note, not to burst your bubble. Unless your DM rules it ok (most will), the ability to Metamorph does not allow you to gain access to the Warshaper PRC simply by RAW. It only has 5 entry qualifications: Change Shape Su, Shapechanger Subtype, Polymorph Spell-like ability, Polymorph as a spell, or Wild Shape or similar ability (Shapechange, Bear form etc).

Also the Power Point progression doesn't look right, you have no psionic ability at 1st.. and you don't get into it until you grab Psionic Fist levels at ECL 9.

Metamorph is a "similar" ability, as it is the Psionic Polymorph. --TK-Squared 16:22, 10 May 2009 (MDT)
Misrepresentation actual text is 'similar *class* ability, my fault. THough like I said. DM will probably allow it -- Sleaker 16:32, 10 May 2009 (MDT)
Manifestation is a class ability. --TK-Squared 16:37, 10 May 2009 (MDT)
Manfestation is a class ability yes. It is not a similar ability to Wild Shape. Psionic Powers aren't listed under the classes list of qualifications, Metamorphosis also doesn't emulate polymorph, or a Shapechange ability. I definetely agree that it should be allowed, but like most Psionic Classes/Abilities. It would be similar to suggesting a Sorcerer with Alter Self, or Transformation qualifies simply because Spell casting is a class ability.
A specific Power/Spell does not count as a Class Ability, it counts as a Power or Spell, the Ability to cast the power or spell is the class ability. -- Sleaker 17:16, 10 May 2009 (MDT)
As only an Egotist Psion can cast it, it is a class feature. Quid Pro Quo, Quod Erat Demonstratum, Latin Phrase. --TK-Squared 17:27, 10 May 2009 (MDT)
Unfortunately that's not how it works, it's still considered a power, not a class ability. Any class can gain the power with a feat, adding it to their list of powers. Again, it's not listed on the class as allowed, just like you can't get into the class by simply having any spell or spell like ability that changes your form. You actually are required to have polymorph, or change shape, or wild shape or a class ability like wild shape. -- Sleaker 18:06, 10 May 2009 (MDT)
