Talk:Tempus (5e Class)

I'd like to start by saying that this class is inspired by multiple chronomancy classes or chronomancers from various sources of fiction such as Wakfu or Jojo's, but it is not intended to BE those classes or characters, this is just supposed to be my try at making a time mage. Also if anyone has any input or balances they'd like to say, please feel free to let me know or change things yourself, though I'd like the base to remain as close to this as possible. --Moth 10:42, 3 July 2019

Moth, I have one comment to make on this class. I like it. It's very good, very inspired. Now, it seems ridiculous to me that this a spellcaster based on time but time stop is not a spell listed here, but I'm sure you have you reasons. I do have a question, though. Have you done this before? Flamestarter (talk) 09:16, 16 December 2019 (MST)Flamestarter

What does Rewind do?[edit]

So the ability itself says

Starting at 14th level you learn to revert someone's time, causing their actions to be undone, leaving the rest of time untouched. As a reaction you can spend 10 Time Points to cause a creature's turn to be undone, placing them to the area they started their turn, and undoing any spells cast, damage dealt or taken. The creature then takes its turn as if it had not went. Once you've used this feature you cannot use it again until you complete a short or long rest.

But I don't see the point of this since once you undo their turn it let's them have a new one. So in the case of enemies wouldn't they do the exact same things? Allies it wouldn't be to useful since (and this is an assumption) they wouldn't have any memory since you rewind them so that knowledge is lost with it, or is there something I'm missing?

Actually, this ties into a paradox that I have in my top 3 personal favorites. It's also a bit of regular logic. "Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it." If you revert time, but there's no kind of memory of this alternate timeline, then it should simply happen the same way again and again. When having something that can change time, you must remember the paradoxes, or some nerd/geek (me) will. Flamestarter (talk) 19:04, 26 December 2019 (MST)Flamestarter

So No Subclass?[edit]

I make the argument against it in some cases, like how the mech pilot itself is incredibly modular, and variety is added by that. However, this just kinda looks like a time wizard, not exactly versatile in it's purpose, you pick up the class and you don't really have any variation from anyone else who does. Is there a reason for this? I don't see one. --SwankyPants (talk) 08:50, 7 December 2020 (MST)

Please stop deleting everything[edit]

please, I will add subclasses --Artif (talk) 18:02, 29 October 2021 (MDT)

Then just add them, instead of reverting edits. --Lavie (talk) 18:03, 29 October 2021 (MDT)

I need to keep the stuff you delete --Artif (talk) 18:04, 29 October 2021 (MDT)

So I can move it into a subclass --Artif (talk) 18:04, 29 October 2021 (MDT)

No, you don't. Check the past edits through the history tab. --Lavie (talk) 18:05, 29 October 2021 (MDT)

Why do you have such a god complex? This isn't your website, you aren't even a mod? what do you gain from deleting other peoples stuff? Does it make you happy? do you feel powerful? Why can't I exist on this site without you hovering over everything I try to do? --Artif (talk) 18:08, 29 October 2021 (MDT)

You're literally gutting this class because it has to fall into your "rules". It is now missing 7 levels worth of features. --Artif (talk) 18:12, 29 October 2021 (MDT)

The class gains a feature every time it gains access to spells of 3rd level or higher. That is the class feature at 5th, 7th, 9th, 13th, 15th, and 17th level. Ability Score Improvement is a class feature itself, gained at 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th level. How are you not getting that? And I am using what WOTC has done with official classes as comparison. --Lavie (talk) 18:15, 29 October 2021 (MDT)

This is not an official class, this is a homebrew, on a homebrew website. It does not need to be "Official". How are you not getting that? --Artif (talk) 18:20, 29 October 2021 (MDT)

It is true that this is homebrew, on a homebrew website. However, we have a general consensus here that homebrew pages should generally fit in with first-party content, including their power levels. This is a consequence of creating something for an existing game instead of making an entirely new game. If it helps, pretend that the feature lines marked with — in the class table instead say "Spellcasting improvement." — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 18:41, 29 October 2021 (MDT)
