Allow me to mention that when it's called a "More complex shield" it kind of pains me. Like I'd understand if it was remotely similar but it's not, the Shield spell grants a +5 bonus to AC and magic missile does nothing against a creature with shield. The Matrix Dodge Spell not only has a mechanic rarely seen (That being Check vs AC) BUT ALSO gives the caster the ability to "Deflect Missiles" and I'm just having a hard time seeing how THAT is comparable to Shield. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BeefaroniSalesman (talkcontribs) . The core mechanic of the spell is to reduce or avoid damage. This spell accomplishes the reduction and/or avoidance of damage in an overly complex way, and is still arguably worse than Shield's +5 AC. Simplicity is elegance. Why would anyone want to use a spell that's so hard to wrap their heads around? --Nuke The Earth (talk) 01:04, 20 August 2022 (MDT)

Frankly, it's a matter of opinion. Still, I would appreciate maybe some ideas.. I dunno... think about it like this just to end the argument, Shield while maybe better than this is meant for raising ones AC and is has its permitters, on the other hand Matrix not only could make one's AC let's assume they have a +5, a 25 sometimes a 6. I just have a hard time seeing how it's hard to wrap around, it's not even hard to understand fully... it's simply reading but in simplified terms, use reaction avoid ranged damage sometimes maybe use bonus action and throw the thing back. --BeefaroniSalesman
