Sudden edits by 187.187.203.152[edit]

Greetings, I am Juki the now full-time creator of this Class after it was abandoned by its original creator. I have spent a lot of time working on this class and except for the first feature and some flavor text (which I still edited) have done all the work creating this class.

While I have no qualms with people editing my class to make it better or fixing stuff (which is what Lavie did) I think that the gigantic wave of edits was a little bit overboard. Also changing the spell list to Wizard is something I do not approve of at all. That is a BIG change that went fully undiscussed. First of all, this has the WIP Template which means that the creator is actively working on it. Which I was, with at least weekly updates. Also, While this class already had an active needs balance you changed it to be even more powerful with another extra subclass feature to the one pointed out as too powerful...

This is actively going against my creative vision please stop.

The Needs Ballance Template added by Lavie (talk)[edit]

Greetings, while that entire thing was going on It has come to my attention that you have added the Balance Template. While I am happy to rebalance my class, I personally did not feel like I understand the reason why you added it good enough to actively start rebalancing it... Could you please explain in more detail? I would love to understand this a bit better!

Thanks in advance! ---Juki12 (talk) 15:00, 10 May 2021 (EST)

Great edit moved[edit]

To Anastacio (talk)

Greetings first I really want to thank you for your great addition and edit. I really like the updated version of the Stage Violence feature. The additions made to the weapon's abilities are really inventive! But I wanted to explain why I have moved the new cape feature to The Grand Show subclass. I do think that this feature fits the average Magician really well and has great potential. But I feel that it conflicts a bit with some of the subclasses seeing as Mentalists almost never wear capes, and wearing capes would even be detrimental to Escapists. So I moved the feature to be specifically attached to The Grand Show subclass seeing as the subclass is based on the stereotypical average magician. I know that you could say that some of my own features are guilty of not really working with the subclasses as well but, that's why I am still working on it. Content-wise while lacking fluff it should be as good as done. But I feel that when it comes to base class subclass synergy it is still quite lacking. Anyway, Again thank you for your great addition! ---Juki12 (talk) 18:40, 8 October 2021 (EST)

Glad you liked it, and the cape really fits the Grand Show stereotype, indeed. Since you seems open to suggestions, i have one: why don't make the magician a non-spellcaster? I mean, magicians are supposed to be tricksters, capable of pulling off practical mundane illusions. Maybe you could have tricks, instead of spells known, in a book of tricks (Kinda like the movie "The Prestige"). Then, for the spellcasting aspect, you could have a "True Magician" subclass, for a trickster who is also capable of really casting spells. Anastacio (talk) 13:41, 8 October 2021 (MDT)
That's a very good question and I totally get where you are coming from. And can give you 3 reasons why I have done that:
The first and admittedly weakest reason is that it was that way when the original page was abandoned years ago.
The second reason is that in DND most of the well-known magic tricks are fully possible through spells; you want magic with ropes? Rope Trick. You want to vanish teleport? Misty Step. You want to make something in your hand disappear? Wrist Pocket. You want to levitate? Use the spell of the same name. You want to make an animal appear out of nowhere? Conjure Animals. You want to use hypnoses in a movie-style way? Use any of the many Suggestion like spells. I could go on and on about every possible well-known magic trick but I think you get the point. If I want to keep this class clear and concise and not overinflate a class with already a lot of features with even more features doing what well-known spells can already do. This is in my opinion, is the best way to do it.
The third reason is because in my head I was going for a Magician with power type trope. Think Mumbo Jumbo, Zatanna, Mandrake the Magician. And in some way even a little Mr. Compress. This is quite a common trope. there is even a whole Page about it! Page. This was what I had in mind when making the page when I saw that it had actual magic when it was abandoned and it was also a big reason why I found it interesting enough to rework it.
Like I said I fully get where you are coming from with this question. At first glance, it does make much more sense. But all these reasons are why this page is the way it is. Also, I am very open to suggestions! If you have any good idea's please bring them in! Two heads are always better than one when working together! Anyway I hope this clears stuff up!
Kind regards! ---Juki12 (talk) 01:16, 9 October 2021 (EST)
