Commentary[edit]

A weapon like this could well be within the range of a fifth or sixth level character. Possibly it could be gained even earlier if the party crafter was willing to make one for the party fighter/ranger/rogue. A similar weapon, substituting magic missle for acid arrow, could well be within the reach of even a third level character. Quite a convenient weapon, I played a ranger with this exact same bow, a long time ago :)

Here's how I got the pricing for this weapon. From the SRD:

  • Use-activated spell effect (Acid Arrow as L2 caster) = 2 x 2 x 2000 gp = 8000gp
  • Magical +1 enhancement = +2,000 gp
  • masterwork light crossbow = +335 gp
  • total = 10,335 gp

This is my first magic weapon I've put on the SRD, so I just want to make sure I did it right...--Othtim 11:08, 7 October 2007 (MDT)

This sort of weapon can be scaled up easily. To make it more suitable for a higher-level adventurer:

  • Use-activated spell effect (Acid Arrow as L10 caster) = 2 x 10 x 2000 gp = 40,000gp
  • Magical +5 enhancement = +25,000 gp
  • masterwork light crossbow = +335 gp
  • total = 65,335 gp
