Talk:Infinite Rage (3.5e Optimized Character Build)

Is this build viable?[edit]

While the Eye of Grumsh stacks for uses per day, nothing about it says it stacks for the type of rage you get or anything else related to rage. Therefore, the build never obtains Tireless Rage, as best I can tell, and Greater Rage is likewise out. Is there anything to indicate that this is not the case?

Another Way to Get Infinite Rage[edit]

Were-(dire)badger, or were-(dire)wolverine. The kicker is not just unlimited per day uses, but unlimited per encounter uses. —Sledged (talk) 12:20, 20 December 2007 (MST)

Yes, but the point of the build was to rage when the player wished to, not as a trigger from damage. That's a good method, though. —OptimizationFanatic 16:40, 24 December 2007 (MST)
Controlled rage? That's easy enough. Give your lycanthrope a level of barbarian, two levels of half-orc paragon, one level of frenzied berserker, and one level of berserk (Deities and Demigods), and the feats Extra Rage and Righteous Wrath (Book of Exalted Deeds). You can now choose to rage four times a day, frenzy once a day, go into a battle fury once a day, and bypass some of the limitations of rage, frenzy, and battle fury. —Sledged (talk) 23:47, 24 December 2007 (MST)
Wow... I just went over that, and that works very well. Good job! —OptimizationFanatic 19:09, 29 December 2007 (MST)
Oddly enough, the badger/wolverine rage makes no reference to the barbarian's rage, so other than the AC penalty, it has none of the drawbacks of the barbarian's rage. No limitation on Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills, the Concentration skill, any abilities that require patience or concentration, spells, magic items, or feats, and no fatigue at the end. —Sledged (talk) 20:22, 30 December 2007 (MST)
Throw in a level each of Unearthed Arcana's Druidic Avenger and Complete Warrior's Bear Warrior, and not only do you gain another rage, but you gain a few druid abilities and the ability to turn into a bear for larger bonuses whenever you rage or frenzy (or other rage-like abilities if the DM allows it). To cap it all off, use the fractional base modifiers variant in Unearthed Arcana, and you can meet BAB prerequisites more easily. And a note on lycanthropy: while that's a good way to get an animal's rage, the anthropomorphic template from Savage Species may end up with a lower ECL and achieve the same goal. I'm not sure, I haven't checked. --Daniel Draco 14:10, 19 March 2008 (MDT)
Yeah, but were-creatures are just so ****ing cool! —Sledged (talk) 21:03, 24 March 2008 (MDT)
I hope you know I built a character based on this discussion. Its a half orc were badger 4th barbarian/1st druidic avenger/2nd fighter(yeah bonus feats)/2nd half orc paragon/1st berserk/2nd eye of gruumsh/4th frenzied berserker. Do you realize how retarded this is!?!? The badgers rage, barbarians rage 5/day, frenzies 2/day, battle fury 1/day, without feats. base fortitude save 21. base reflex save? 2. yes 2. Will saves are a little better. 4 base will save. plus bonuses to rage and frenzy, supreme cleave? yes! Deathless frenzy? yes! swing wildly? yes! Although the only reason he isn't left with the horses when the party goes into town is his intimidate modifier. Yes This is quite an epic character. actually only level 20, not quite epic yet. still ridiculous. -Colona 11:26, 8 August 2008 (PST)
Anthropomorphic Wolverines are amazing. +2 LA and 2 racial HD for a total boost to ability scores of, i believe, 22. Even if you're starting the character below ECL 10, there's almost no reason NOT to go ahead and throw the Feral template on that. Bear Warrior definitely has amazing synergy with it. Although for the character i'm building, for flavor's sake, i just consider him changing into a dire wolverine type shape as opposed to a bear(with DM's permission you could probably move around the stat bonuses from that form to more closely match a dire wolverine.) Just a single level of Bear Warrior is definitely worth it, but if you can fit it in, 5 levels is best. There's no real need to go 10. Diminishing results and all that. Better just to take that many(or that many more) levels of Frenzied Berzerker. Neodymium 13:56, 19 March 2009 (MDT)

Damage[edit]

Needs Leap Attack (CV), Shock Trooper (CW), and Combat Brute (CW). Rage is nice, but without a way to turn that strength into even more damage... Also, should find some way to end frenzy so you don't end up killing your party members, such as Iron Heart Surge that Warblades get. Ghostwheel 00:49, 8 July 2009 (MDT)

Also, if you're already doing orc, might as well do Water-born Orc. --Ghostwheel 04:25, 12 July 2009 (MDT)
