Unbalanced?[edit]

I know this is my page, but I'm not entirely sure this is balanced. I originally designed this as an aspect for a class I'm creating, but I didn't think it would work out so I spun it off. I was planning on have is displace Dexterity entirely including ranged attack rolls and Reflex saves, but that seemed too much. If there already is something to this effect, this page can be deleted. -- Jota 19:39, 10 January 2009 (MST)

It is definitely a little much with the paladin option that adds Cha to AC at second level instead of Cha to Saves. With a +4 starting Cha mod, you'll have a +8 AC and still be able to have a large shield and chain shirt (+6). --Aarnott 11:49, 22 July 2009 (MDT)
What/where is this option? I've never heard of it. -- Jota 12:33, 22 July 2009 (MDT)
Champions of Valor. I haven't read the book myself, so I'm not 100% sure, but I've been told that is the deal. --Aarnott 12:49, 22 July 2009 (MDT)
Even if that were true, while it might be potentially unbalancing, it is a choice a player could make. Granted you get great AC, but when enemy attacks start offering saving throws instead of presenting themselves as attack roles, your high AC isn't going to be so great. Also, you could still potentially be hit by touch attacks (even if the Charisma mod counts like Dexterity would) and be caught flat-footed. Maybe I should clarify some of those things. -- Jota 13:31, 22 July 2009 (MDT)

Question[edit]

"An armor's Maximum Dexterity Bonus still limits the character's Dexterity for all significant checks." What exactly do you mean by "all significant checks"? --Daniel Draco 20:09, 10 January 2009 (MST)

Pretty much anything important. If it matters, it's affects it. I guess I'll just delete that to remove the confusion. -- Jota 20:46, 10 January 2009 (MST)
Ah, I see the confusion. Max dex bonus of armor only applies to armor class...it doesn't affect anything else. --Daniel Draco 21:03, 10 January 2009 (MST)
So does armor limit Cha bonus to AC the way it limits Dex bonus? Or does armor not affect it? Sergejsvk 14:28, 15 November 2010 (MST)

There's a feat named this in Complete Scoundrel. Completely different feat, just same name. Just thought you'd like to know. Carry on. -- Eiji 23:25, 10 January 2009 (MST)

Wow, I was about to say the same thing, then I saw your comment. Beat me to it, I guess. By two years. Ouch. Silverkin 12:39, 18 May 2011 (MDT)
I'm going to have to say this is overpowered, I can't think of a reason for a bard or sorcerer not to get this
