  1. The SRD only gives a means to determine costs and weights of weapons for Large and Small versions based on the Medium weapons. Any other supplied values are the author's best determination.

A weapon used by the zealous Ori, they were originally created by the evil and deceptive Goa'uld symbiotes for their vast armies. Created from Adamantite and powered by a rare, semingly magical substance called Naquadah, Staff Weapons a amongst the most powerful weapons in the world. Tecnically staves with ranged capablity, they can be used in melee, albeit with a -5 penalty to both melee attack and damage rolls due to their weight, plus an addtional -4 penalty on attack rolls due to being considered a two-handed improvised bludgeoning weapon due to its weight. Though used by the Ori with great efficiency, those inferior grade weaopons are powered by strange energy crystals, the only ones left. However, they are developing a variant of the Staves called Light-Spears, which are basiclally spears that use Psi-Cristals to fire powerful blasts of pure, concentrated ectoplasm to kill other. The Goa'uld Staves, however, fire superheated plasma that can instantly kill an unarmored target and severely injure an armored one. Damage for both types is considered adamantine for the purpose of bypassing damage reduction. However, in this world they are expensive, meaning that only the richest adventurer, or ruler, can purchase them, and they are hard to use with out training, dealing an addtional -2 penalty to all attack and damage rolls for those not profficient in their use.

* Reloading a Staff Weapon: Staff Weapons cannont be reloaded on the battlefield, due to their complex inner mechanisim. They can only be reloaded at a base or during a cease-fire. Tough luck there, bub!
