Soul Shaper[edit]

The soul shaper is a warrior who sees his enemies as potential weapons, their powers rely in the misuse and desecration of enemy bodies, they usually seek people with great power to slay them and add them to their collection

Making a Soul Shaper[edit]

The Soul Shapers are best for their weapon strength and ability to shape weapons out of the bodies and souls of monsters and making those weapons powerful intelligent weapons, they arent too effective when it comes to skills and they are not as focused and powerful with weapons as fighters and their hp is very low for a warrior class.

Abilities: The three most important abilities for a Soul Shaper is wisdom, strength and intelligence

Races: Because of how the Soul Shaper works it is found among all races.

Alignment: Any non-good

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the soul shaper.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The Soul Shaper is proficient with all simple and martial weapons and all armor and shields (including tower shields).

special: To level up past level one a soul shaper must murder his best friend.

Collect Soul: With in 10 rounds of any living creatures death (3 rounds for anything that disapates after death, i.e. devils), you may capture its soul and insert it into a gemstone. The Creature must not be undead and have an Intelligence AND Wisdom of 4 or higher, and the gemstone can be of any size but worth at least 10gp per Hit Die of the creature killed. The Soul Shaper will know what gemstone fells right for what person, this will not impart any in game information of what level someone is, just that "This gemstone will work, this one will not." The defeated enemy can attempt to escape being captured (a willing soul gets no save) by making a will save (DC 15 + Soul Shapers class level + Soul Shaper's Int mod). A collected soul can be used as a spell slot for any Arcane spell (though the spell still has to be prepared, either from scrolls or stolen spellbooks and takes one minute per spell level of concentration). This spell slot is equivalent to half of the monster or NPC's CR, rounded down (ie. a CR 12 monster's soul can be used so a Soul Shaper can use a 6th level spell). After it is used, the gem is destroyed and the soul is destroyed as well. Only a wish AND miracle can bring the souls back, but not alive again. That would require another wish, miracle or resurection spell. Releasing a soul from a gemstone, either to set it free or cast a spell, requires a Use Magic Device check, DC 15 + (Spell level or 1/2 CR of creature's soul). All spells are cast as a Wizard of your Soul Shaper level, and are restricted in the same ways. (Ex: A 10th level Fighter / 3rd Level Soul Shaper destroys a Guardian Naga [CR 10] and could normally use the soul to prepare a 5th level spell, but since the highest spell a 3rd level Wizard could cast is a 2nd level, he would be restricted to 0, 1st, and 2nd level spells.

Bonus Feat: First level soul shapers get craft magic arms and armor as a bonus feat

Spell Magic: When crafting magic weapons or armor, a Soul Shaper is able to use any divine and/or arcane spell, caster level equivelent to his own Soul Shaper level, as long as he has a scroll for it and only to craft/enhance weapons or armor. He may use a soul stone or stones (other then one being inserted with Insert Soul) in place of any experence cost as long as that soul or souls would have had the exp to cover the cost.

Shape Body (Su): Shape Body allows a Soul Shaper to create a weapon out of a fallen enemy. (with this skin, flesh and bone can be used in place of any substance that an item would otherwise be made of, i.e. a sword of flesh would be as hard as a normal sword) The cost of making the weapon goes from 1/3rd the price of the weapon to 1/6th the price but the materials cannot be replaced so a failure by 5 or more is a failure using this ability , if you are level 4 you can craft two things per day but at a -2 penalty and if you are crafting 3 it is a -4 penalty , 4 in a day, it is a -8 penalty, all weapons made using this skill must be masterwork and all skill checks when making weapons or armors using this ability must be made on a per day basis and not per week. With this ability the Soul Shaper may add his rolls each day, when he meets the dc (30 for most items, gm has final say on the dc) his work is done.

Insert Soul (Su): Insert Soul is putting a collected soul's jemstone on a weapon making it a magic (intellegent) weapon (the attack and damage bonus is 1/4 the soul's CR rounded up). The soul can only be inserted into a weapon made with its body with soulshape, the magic weapon also gains the everdancing ability like the epic ability and it can go as far as the soulshapers level x5ft away from the soulshaper and it gives the weapon all supernatural and spell like abilities the soul's body had it also gives the soul shaper all extraordanary abilities and skills the soul's body had but only while its in a soul shapers hands.(ie. a creature with fast healing becomes a longsword and a soul shaper is holding the longsword, the soulshaper now has fast healing until he lets go of the weapon) if the soul was a spellcaster it retains those spellcasting abilities and can have spells per day as if it were still in its body the new magic weapon also gains the souls intelligence, wisdom and charisma(giving it appropriate ego score to its bonuses as well) and gains an appropriate ego score. An item made by a Soul Shaper can must follow all mental and verbal direct demands of the Soul Shaper that made it. (Though some may protest doing so) Inserting the soul still requires time treat it as making a magic weapon with a bonus=to the items ego (all special abilities count as greater powers, all mental skill bonuses that have 10+ ranks in them count as a lesser power) any weapon with a collected soul in it can only be used by a soulshaper unless the weapon was made with weapon distrabution

When a soul shaper does this to another soul shaper they dont gain the soul shapers abilities, instead the weapon or armor's magic bonus is = 1/2 the killed soul shapers levels.

Armor works: at 5th level a soul shaper can use shape body and insert soul to make armors as well.

improved weapon and armorsmithing (Ex): at 8th level a soul shaper can work faster without messing up when calculating how much work you have done on that day add +10 to the roll.

magic seer: at 10th level a soul shaper is so intune with magic he gets a +5 bonus on all spellcraft and use magic device checks.

weapon distrabution: at 12th level a soul shaper can make his weapons and armors so they can be used by others at the cost of raising the DC to make it by 2. The weapon or armor however is not compelled to follow others orders. (See intellegent magic items in the GM's guide on how they work in a normal persons hands.)

Mix souls (Su): At 13th level a soul shaper can collected souls together, doing this makes the spell slots merge into one stone (ie. a gemstone now has one level one spell slot and two level 6 spell slots) (mixing the souls requires a spellcraft check = 10+the addup of the souls' CR) mixed collected souls that are freed are one soul not multiple so if any of them are revived they are all revived in the same body one part can gain control by both the current controller and the one trying to make control both making will saves the one with a higher save takes control for an hour (this applies while the body is sleeping as well requireing the body one extra hour of sleep or meditation (each time you use this no matter how many souls you mix per use of it it counts as using one of your charges of collect soul)

mix bodies: at the 15th level a soul shaper can use multiple bodies to create one weapon or armor this becomes useful when the soul shaper is able to infuse multiple souls into one weapon or armor because the soul can only go into something made of its body (you still can't mix more bodies then you can make per day and each body you mix counts twards your per day total)

For Whom the Bell Tolls: at 17th level a soul shaper is so intune with the spirit world they can tell how close people are to death, everyone the soul shaper sees is as if they are under a status and deathwatch spell (no save) the soul shaper chooses if the status spell effect would remain along with that they can also determine the age of anyone and their age of death.

infuse multiple souls (Su): at 18th level a soul shaper can infuse mixed infused souls with mixed infused bodies. the mental stats for this weapon or armor would be the average of the mixed souls' stats and it would have the abilities of all the souls' bodies in one weapon it still counts for infusing souls as if you infused each soul seperately when it comes to infusions per day (at level 19 you cant infuse a mixed collected soul with 7 bodies because you can only infuse 6 souls a day)

soul perge: at 19th level a soul shaper has the ability to send out a soul as a ray (30 ft ray doing xd6 damage, x being the CR total fo soul or combined souls)

Master Weapon and Armorsmith (Ex): as improved weapon and armorsmith but a +50 instead of +10 and a soulshaper doesnt spend exp when crafting magic arms and armors

Master's Soul (Su): At level 20 a soul shaper is so controlloing of spirits he can forge a weapon to house his own soul. A soul shaper can craft a magic weapon and he can add magic to it after it is made and this weapon can house his soul meaning he cannot die as long as his body and his weapon isnt destroyed at the same time (before one comes back form being destroyed) , if he is killed or the weapon destroyed it will reform in the first open spot next to the other in 1d10 weeks (no exp. or level loss), he also will stop ageing completely. when the soulshaper using the weapon he gets an automatic +2 bonus on attacks and damage on it and it has 1/4 his character level as a magic bonus as well (the bonuses his soul give the weapon dont apply to making it) the weapon can dance like the other weapons a soul shaper makes but at any range but while dancing it doesnt gain the +2 bonus and the weapon can only be used by the soulshaper who created it out of his soul. The weapon wont leave the plane its body is on and vice versa, no matter where the weapon is on the plane the body can call it by thinking of it,when it is called it teleports into his hand ignoring any and/or all antimagic fields the only time this ability of the sword can be suppresed is if the soul shaper wishes so. When this weapon is created all other weapons stop arguing with you in fear of being destroyed.

Bonus Feats: The epic soul shaper gains a bonus feat every other level after 20th starting on level 22.

Epic soul shaper Bonus Feat List:Armor Skin, Combat Archery, Damage Reduction, Devastating Critical, Dire Charge, Distant Shot, Energy Resistance, Epic Endurance, Epic Leadership, Epic Prowess, Epic Toughness, Epic Weapon Focus, Epic Weapon Specialization, Exceptional Deflection, Improved Combat Reflexes, Improved Manyshot, Improved Stunning Fist, Improved Whirlwind Attack, Infinite Deflection, Instant Reload, Legendary Commander, Legendary Rider, Legendary Wrestler, Overwhelming Critical, Penetrate Damage Reduction, Perfect Two-Weapon Fighting, Reflect Arrows, Spellcasting Harrier, Storm of Throws, Superior Initiative, Swarm of Arrows, Two-Weapon Rend, Uncanny Accuracy. In addition to the feats on this list, the soul shaper may treat any feat designated as a fighter bonus feat, but not listed here, as being on his or her bonus feat list.

Campaign Information[edit]

Playing a Soul Shaper[edit]

Soul shapers tend to be loners because of their cruel ways of crafting weapons they tend to also be a bit insane becuase of one of the requirements to become a soul shaper their best friend's soul is usually forged by a older soul shaper and given to the soul shaper as their first weapon(this of course is the DM's choice to start the soul shaper off with a weapon and how powerful it would be) the soul shaper usually despises society and hunger for power therefor they often chase after strong enemies and are untrustworthy because they might even kill allies for their powers and they are constantly under mental attacks from their weapons so they tend to lose once in a while and are a threat to their allies until they are epic level

Religion: a soul shaper usually worships evil dieties especially evil war dieties

Other Classes: Soul shapers dont get along with other classes well besides other warrior classes.

Combat: a soul shaper is usually a secondary warrior in that they like to stay in the back and control multiple dancing weapons to attack for them, keeping one weapon for melee combat in case an enemy attacks up close

Advancement: after reaching level 20 and forging a weapon out of their soul the soul shaper might multiclass into a arcane spellcasting class because their high will and intellegence

Soul Shapers in the World[edit]

a soul shaper is often a mercenary for dieties for the fact they kill and become stronger from powerful enemies

Soul Shapers usually help small villages and towns, killing tyrants because of their power

Daily Life: Soul shapers are wanderers, some though have been known for staying in one town protecting it from tyranny sometimes being the tyrant themselves the only other time they stay is if they are apprenticing another soul shaper

Notables: Cedric lighns is the first and strongest soul shaper who became a hero of the war god Mithos and he is level 140 .

Organizations: Soul shapers work in secret even from each other, but they often apprentice, they usually get along fine with each other and often notice another soul shaper

NPC Reactions: NPCS usually think soul shapers are just fighters who like to keep their fallen enemies pelts as trophies

Soul Shaper Lore[edit]

Characters with ranks in knowledge (arcana) can research Soul shapers to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.

DC Result
15 that is a soul shaper, they make weapons out of their fallen enemies.
20 they make insert the souls into a gem and gain the powers of the person or creature the soul had in life.
30 the weapons all have an intellegence and can speak on their own they can also fight free of the soul shaper usually with multiple weapons at once the only way to free the soul is to use a desecrate, consencrate, or undecernable alignment on it depending on the souls alignment on the good/evil axis.
40 powerful soul shapers can make their soul into a powerful weapon that is inseprable from the soul shaper these soul shapers can only be truly killed by destroying the weapon.

Soul Shapers in the Game[edit]

soul shapers are good secondary fighters because of their low health they wont take as much heat as fighters but they can fight large numbers of enemies will because of their special dancing weapons
