Shifter Subrace[edit]
Rustfin shifters are chittery and skulky, with rust-orange chitinous antennae or shells resembling the rust monsters their lycanthropic heritage is tied to. You have a taste for iron-heavy foods, and likely port a few insectile features such as mandibles or yellowish compound eyes.
Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.
Iron Scent. You can sense the presence and direction, by scent of ferrous metals within 60 feet.
Shifting Feature. While shifted, at the start of each of your turns, you can use your antennae to corrode a nonmagical ferrous metal object you can see within 5 feet. If the object isn't being worn or carried you destroy a 1-foot cube of it. If the object is being worn or carried the creature can make a Dexterity save to avoid your touch (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). On a failed save, if it is armour or a shield it takes -1 permanent and cumulative penalty to the AC it offers, and if it is a weapon it takes this penalty to its damage rolls. When this trait reduces armour to an AC of 10, shields to a +0 bonus, or weapons to a -5 penalty, the items are destroyed by corrosion.
