Rune of Inferno
Evocation
Level: Major
Components: S, M
Casting time: One Minute
Range: Inscribed Surface
Target, or Effect: One Object (Any)
Duration: 1 Round per Level
Saving Throw: Yes (Reflex Half, No Burn)
Spell Resistance: Varies (See Text)
  • Language: Ignan
  • Prerequisite:13 Ranks in Knowledge (Nature) or Survival, Rune of Flame, Rune of Fire

Placed on a object, when activated by touch it summons a intense wave of flame, followed by surrounding the area in said flame, dealing 1d6 points of fire damage (maximum 15d6). This flame is powered by the natural magic unlike arcane but similar to divine and as such it always inflicts at least half damage regardless of the saving throw, fire resistance, or spell resistance (but complete immunity to magic or fire will prevent damage), however in the event of evasion or improved evasion it deals only one quarter the amount of damage. Those that do not succeed at a saving throw are burned, dealing 1d4 points of bleed damage over time until they receive healing or a Heal check equal to the DC of the rune.

If placed on a mobile object, the flames that engulf the area around it follow the object wherever it goes, using it as its center. When the rune is first placed, you may opt to program it to not burn specific objects such as plants, equipment, houses, ect; living entities may not be exempt except the caster.

Cannot be made permanent by means of Permanency or similar effects.
