Rift
3rd-level Conjuration
Casting time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet
Components: V, S
Duration: 1 minute

Tear a small rift into Space, creating a portal to a place you can see or can visualize within 30 feet of you. Any creature or object of the size Medium or smaller can enter the Rift and be transported to the other side. When looking into it, you can see clearly for up to 30 feet. You can attempt to look further into the distance, but this requires a DC10 + x Wisdom (Perception) check, with x being every 10 feet, up to a maximum of DC20.

You can only look into and enter the Rift from the direction it was created from, anyone or anything entering it from the wrong side will simply pass through it. The Rift is not visible from the other side.

The target Rift follows the same rules, but creatures and objects can only leave it into the said direction. If the output is blocked, or if the Rift itself is, the spell will fail and consume your Spellslot.

Rift can only transport up to 1,000 miles of distance, but there is no limit on the amount of people or objects that can pass through it during the duration. Additionally, only the starting Rift is considered magical. Your endpoint can lay in Zones of Dead Magic, such as an area created by the "antimagic field" spell, it does not trigger spells or effects that sense magic, and so forth.

At Higher Levels.

  • When you cast this spell using a spellslot of 4th level or higher, the Rift can now transport you anywhere on this world/planet.

This spell was created by Sinnes, Dark God of Knowledge and Progress, and can typically only be learned when gifted or found from a powerful being or book. However, this is not always the case, and some develop the ability to cast the spell on their own either naturally or through unknown methods.
