Reporters are the information masters of the world. you handle information with care, help others with it, then strike with it like an axe. the knees of those who have wronged others shake when you put your words to print, because they know what the truth can do. This is not to say that the reporter is always doing the right thing. They are often far from it, sometimes people make mistakes, but when has that ever stopped a damning story from getting published. As a reporter you are adept at getting a story, whether that means coaxing it out of an unsuspecting witness, or just taking the evidence for yourself. The reporter excels when out of combat, but in combat they know how to work with their team to get the job done.

This subclass has a focus around support and out of combat abilities

Read all about it[edit]

At 3rd level, reporters become experts at reading people and giving people just the right amount of information to mislead and get a story, you can roll a d6 an add it to your insight roll. In addition, if an insight check succeeds, you gain advantage on your next deception check.

Slow news day[edit]

Starting at 3rd level the reporter has gotten used to late nights alone, they think better when things are calm and they can think straight. You can add your proficiency bonus again with all investigation, insight and perception checks when not in combat.

Breaking news[edit]

at 3rd level, as a reporter, you have a keen eye for the state of others. Once per long rest as a bonus action, when an enemy combatant is injured the reporter can point out their injury (Perception vs Deception) so long as you have a way to communicate in combat, everyone able to hear you gains an extra d8 in damage against the target creature.

Never reveal your sources[edit]

Starting at 9th level, the reporter has learned to work with their news team to get a story. The reporter can use an action to discuss a strategy, within the group they have discussed it with, the reporter can choose someone to add their proficiency bonus to in stealth and deception checks once every long rest.

Positive spin[edit]

Starting at 13th level the reporter has learned how to spin a story to influence people even in the most dire of situations. Before Combat the reporter can spend 5 minutes to give the other party members a pep talk. Everyone but the reporter within 30ft of the pep talk gets an inspiration point if they don't already have one and as long as they can all see and hear you. This has no upper limit because the reporter is an expert at mass media, but the inspiration point must be used by the end of combat or it is voided.

Extra Extra[edit]

at 17th level, The reporter becomes an unrivaled master of getting their story. They know this business better than anyone, and nobody can get in between them and a good story. Reflecting their knowledge in the field, they get a little extra good at everything. The Read all about it feature increases to d10. When using the Breaking news feature, the reporter can target two enemies instead of just one. Finally Never reveal your sources feature can be used on two people at once.
