Oath of the Dragon Lineage[edit]

For as long as dragons roamed the Material Plane, there were mortals who took up arms in their name, including non-dragonborn. Sometimes called draconic knights, they are usually divided based on their allegiances to either chromatic or metallic dragons. Regardless of this division, those who swear upon the Oath of the Dragon Lineage do so in the name of their ancestors and forefathers.

Tenets of the Dragon Lineage[edit]

Duty: Defeat enemies of your lineage, be that chromatic or metallic.

Instinct: Your blood contains information from countless ages. Follow your instincts to obtain more for yourself to do with as you see fit.

Freedom: Never let yourself be subjugated or enslaved by another. Dragons are free beings, choosing their own fates.

Power: If your power is needed, then let your power be shown in full.

Oath of the Dragon Lineage Spells[edit]

3rd chromatic orb, absorb elements

Draconic Affinity[edit]

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level you have affinity to dragons. You learn how to speak, write and read draconic. Also, you gain affinity to one type of damage type, which is used by features in this subclass. You must choose the shape of your breath weapon when you chose this archetype. If you already have a draconic affinity, use that one for your choice. You can use a breath weapon, as in the Dragonborn racial trait, which scales with your level. The damage type is the determined by your choice of Draconic Affinity. If you are a Dragonborn already, you gain an extra use and the damage die size of your breath weapon increases, becoming a d8.

Additionally, your Divine Sense ability now allows you to detect those with the dragon trait.

Damage Type Breath Weapon (line) Breath Weapon (cone)
Acid 5' by 30' line (DEX save) 15' cone (DEX save)
Lightning 5' by 30' line (DEX save) 15' cone (DEX save)
Cold 5' by 30' line (CON save) 15' cone (CON save)
Fire 5' by 30' line (DEX save) 15' cone (DEX save)
Poison 5' by 30' line (CON save) 15' cone (CON save)

Channel Divinity[edit]

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Dragon Presence[edit]

You can use your Channel Divinity to exude a terrifying presence. As an action, you force each creature of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature becomes frightened of you for 1 minute. The frightened creature can repeat this saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Dragon's Aspect[edit]

When you make a persuasion, performance, deception or intimidation check, you can double your proficiency bonus for that ability check and any you make within the next minute. The skill you choose must be one that isn't already benefiting from a feature, such as Expertise, that doubles your proficiency bonus.

Aura of the Dragon[edit]

The draconic power flowing through you inspires and bolsters others as well. Starting at 7th level, you and allied creatures within 10 feet of you can add your Charisma modifier to their damage rolls.

Starting at 18th level, this aura's range increases to 30 feet.

Draconic Resistance[edit]

At 15th level, you become immune to the damage type of your Draconic Affinity.

Dragon Champion[edit]

At 20th level, you can assume the form of a draconic avatar, bolstering your normal form with great scales and steely muscle. Using your action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • Scales sprout from your body, increasing your AC by 2.
  • You channel the strength of the dragons, your Strength score becomes 26, if it wasn't already higher.
  • Enemies within your Aura of the Dragon take damage equal to your Charisma modifier, the same type as your Draconic Affinity, when they enter or start their turn in the Aura. This damage bypasses all resistances and immunities to that damage type.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
