Magmatic Plasmoid[edit]

Rare ones they are, so little have been found. The kind so difficult to encounter, that books make up stories about them

Physical Description[edit]

The magmatic plasmoid, sometimes called laval plasmoid is small and vaguely humanoid in shape, like a gnome or a dwarf. Their bodies are capable of withstanding incredibly high environmental pressure due to them living mostly underground next to magma pools, where they can easily replenish their body heat. The color of their bodies varies according to the temperature that they are in. Brown, red, orange and yellow are the most common colors they can be found in.

Magmatic plasmoids, unlike popular belief, are not related to "standard" Plasmoids. Although they look similar to the untrained eye, there are a few differences between the two. For starters, magmatic plasmoids don't have a malleable fluid-like body that can shapeshift. They instead possess a thin, almost crystalline layer that defines their shape and insulates their internal heat.

This "skin" contains non-newtonian properties, allowing itself to harden upon impact to protect the Plasmoid against harm. However, it is rather cushy and pliable in its natural state.

These creatures do not have organs in the traditional sense, their consciousness and metabolism rely on a prismatic internal structure, called a Core. The Core resides in the center of their bodies and is what fuels their internal heat, keeping their bodies at high temperatures.

If this core were to be damaged, it could greatly incapacitate the plasmoid, causing the cooling and hardening of their extremities, an effect akin to nerve damage on humanoids. To avoid this, magmatic plasmoids venturing on the surface carry with them, firewood, coal and other fuels to keep themselves hot.

A magmatic plasmoid with a fully dead Core will harden their entire body and perish into a small statue.

History[edit]

These creatures have evolved from the deep caves, but their first instances looked like living rocks as a result of wizards attempting to create stone golems. Eventually some were lost in the caves, and as they multiplied, these became their own species evolving in their own intricate ways according to this dark environment.

Society[edit]

Their society was one of curiosity, always striving to learn and understand their surroundings better. But in an environment so dull and dark that is underground, it was very hard to discover new land. For that matter, only a small amount of magmatic slime beings have actually been found at the surface, and when they are introduced into society, these creatures were more than happy to be able to grow and learn so many things that had been foreign to their imagination, or outright impossible. Due to their curious nature, it is entirely possible for a magmatic plasmoid to be twisted with dark mindsets and evil ideals depending on where and when it has grown up. A human empire, a goblin village, an elven forest, all of these could affect how it sees the world.

Magmatic Plasmoid Names[edit]

Magmatic plasmoid did not require names while evolving, but as some found their way into the overworld, they were named in regards to their appearence, or the words that they could pronounce in the Ooze language.
