Mystic Fire Knight[edit]

The Weave is our most Sacred trust. We accept our duty to protect it, and dedicate our lives to it. Mystra provides us the tools.
—Marval Crossiron, Aasimar Paladin, Mystic Fire Knight

The Mystic Fire Knights regularly joined priests of Mystra on missions to find and uncover lost stores of ancient magic. They also served as guardians at large Mystran temples and at magical workshops, usually as leaders of regular defenders.Mystra granted divine magic to the paladins of the order. However, they also studied arcane magic, and the paladins could train freely as wizards. They could even double as guild wizards of Waterdeep. As such, the Mystic Fire Knights had a closer affinity with arcane magic, potentially being able to cast arcane spells and having an increased capacity for magic. A Mystic Fire Knight could smite an evil foe and disrupt their ability to use magic, and had an ability called "Spellshatter", in which they could strike a foe and dispel a magical effect on them. The number of members in the order was at least five hundred. However, they worked in small groups; it was rare to find more than a dozen in any one place. (Credit for this is from the Forgotten Realms wikia).

Becoming a Mystic Fire Knight[edit]

To become a Mystic Fire Knight is to answer the call of Mystra herself in the Defense of the Weave. To challenge those who walk in the spaces between the weave, and to directly oppose the agents of Shar.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Mystic Fire Knight.

Spellcasting: At each level you gain new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known, if applicable) as if you had also gained a level in a wizard class to which you belong. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained.

Mystra's Boon: Levels in this prestige class are counted as Paladin levels for advancement in spellcasting as well as gained abilities and class features. The Knight may also multiclass freely as a wizard, and may always go back to taking Paladin levels.

Weavespeak: Using an ability called "Weavespeak", a Knight of Mystic Fire can communicate to a fellow paladin (including knights of the weave), cleric, or ranger of Mystra, over any distance, by transmitting short messages over the Weave.

Spellshatter: Once per day starting at 6th level, a Mystic Fire Knight can choose to deliver a targeted greater dispel magic effect with a melee attack. The decision to use this ability must be made before the attack is rolled; if the attack misses, the effect is wasted. Caster level of this ability is equal to the sum of his knight level plus his Paladin and wizard levels.

If the attack hits, treat this as if the Mystic Fire Knight had cast a targeted greater dispel magic on the creature struck, using her paladin level plus Mystic Fire Knight (plus any arcane caster level she might have from another class) as her caster level.

Bonus Paladin Spells: The Knight gains bonus paladin spell slots of the spell levels as indicated on the Table: The Mystic Fire Knight on levels 2, 4, 6 and 8. You must be able to cast spells of the same spell level to make use of the bonus paladin spell slots. These spell slots are in addition to the bonus spells for a high attribute score.

Bonus Wizard Spells: The Knight gains bonus wizard spell slots of the spell levels as indicated on the Table: The Mystic Fire Knight on levels 3, 5, 7, 9 and 10. You must be able to cast spells of the same spell level to make use of the bonus wizard spell slots. These spell slots are in addition to the bonus spells for a high attribute score.
