Kaleidogen[edit]

Sorcerer Subclass

Methodical, Kaleidogen sorcerers are militant forces that manipulate and pervert the nature of their magic to afflict and manipulate as much and many as possible. The general identity of sorcerers and their innate power are rare but renowned. These rare individuals, under the militant scholastics of Kaleidogen, better understand the fundamentals of space and how to manipulate it to their advantage. Between this knowledge and the arcane power of a sorcerer in general, Kaleidogen sorcerers hold a special place on the battlefield as an imposing force to be reckoned with.

Kaleidogen Sorcery

Your method of utilizing magic is artificial. Perverted and twisted compared to normal or natural means. Spells, overall, take more time to weave together, but when given the chance, your power and prevalence are practically unmatched.

Rather than using spell slots conventionally, you instead temporarily expend them to specify areas for your spells to then affect.

Eidos

When you use your action to cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you must expend a spell slot equal to the minimum spell slot level required to cast the spell or higher. In doing so, you begin weaving together an ephemeral framework that takes the form of a phantasmal cube with a maximum side length equal to 5 feet x the spell slot level the spell is being cast. Once the cast duration is complete, you chose a point within 45 feet of you that you can see as the target location for the spell cast.

Once an Eidos is made, the spell takes immediate effect against all relevant targets in the area. Once the spell's effects have resolved and the duration ended, the Eidos disappears. Spells that have a duration of more than 1 action, or require concentration over a duration require you to maintain concentration on them as normal. Attack rolls and checks you make as part of a spell you cast in this way apply to all creatures in the area, interacting with each creature individually as if cast normally against each creature separately.

For example, if you cast magic missile at first level, all creatures in the Eidos are hit with all three arrows. If you cast arcane weapon, all suitable weapons in the area are granted its bonuses, losing them once the effect ends, you lose concentration, or the weapon is taken out of the area.

Open Space

Starting at 1st level, your mastery of space and its physical properties allows you to better attribute yourself to it, granting you advantage on saving throws against environmental hazards and terrain effects. You are also unaffected by Difficult Terrain.

Agency

Starting at 6th level, whenever you cast a spell, you can expend any number of additional spell slots of the same level to target a number of additional spaces within range as part of the same cast. While your Eidos can overlap, creatures that are within multiple Eidos are only affected by a maximum of 1. Each Eidos can be centered on a different location within range, but all Eidos must be the same size.

Additionally, your maximum casting range is increased to 60 feet.

Outburst

At 14th level, whenever you cast a spell, you can expend all spell slots of one spell slot level less than the spell slot level used to cast the spell to double the maximum side length of all Eidos being cast, for the duration.

Repose

Starting at 14th level, you can use your action to expend a spell slot of any level available to you to create an Eidos centered on your location with a bonus 5 feet added to its normal side length. This eidos lasts for as long as you maintain concentration on it, and grants creatures within it a bonus to all ability scores equal to the spell slot level expended.

During this time, you can concentrate on one additional spell, but you make concentration checks with disadvantage while doing so. Losing concentration at this time also causes you to lose the effects of Repose. Once you have used Repose, you cannot do so again until you complete a long rest.

Strenuous Action

Starting at 18th level, you can cast two spells where you would usually only be able to cast one, combining the effects of both spells into each Eidos. When casting multiple spells at once in this way, you must complete all required cast times before either spell takes effect. The cast time of each spell is completed synchronously. For example, if one spell has a cast time of 1 minute, and the second spell has a cast time of 1 minute, you are only required to spend 1 minute of casting time to cast both spells. A spell effect ends after the listed duration as normal, even if the companion spell being cast has a longer duration. Additionally, you have disadvantage on concentration checks while casting multiple spells in this way.
