Higher Human (5e Subrace)

Stub Logo.png This page is incomplete and/or lacking flavor. Reason: This is a witch? But why is the page something else entirely? Also, a witch kind of fits more as a class, like a sorcerer. What race is this a subrace to? A non-spell spell. In 5e, races can cast spells (as with the cantrip.) d18 & d24 dice are highly irregular. What is the functional use in increasing your life by 1 day. It seems to be unnecessary clutter for the trait.

Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: +9 ASI??? This also gets magical unarmed strikes. The bewitching trait has a freaking 6d24 damage potential (?!) and doesn't specify how it is even used (action? attack roll? saving throw??). Also, two free feats, far outclassing the official variant human. Although primarily a roleplaying aspect, Restoration of Youth is exploitable by tiny creatures with short lifespans (like mice).

Lightnin's jumping between the silver-eyed girl and golden-haired boy, during cosmic nights.

The strength of this subrace is geared toward playing in either a challenging or unreliable company when it comes to character development, and is more for fun.

History and Society

According to legends, witches are a descendant of an ancient people who lived in harmony with nature and had great magic, but their group was divided by the Dragon Gods' conflict. The goddess of elements was worshiped by a group of warriors who had lost her name. The goddess rewarded them with the ability to control lightning and shield them from the scorching heat in exchange for their devotion. A group of individuals hid themselves high up in the mountains and venerated a high god whose name they endeavored to remember, but it escaped them.

Witches were not particularly fond of worshipping. They pledged eternal service to many entities, but always remained with themselves, resulting in nothing being lost. It is futile to deprive them when they've surreptitiously interlaced their fingers behind their backs. Despite their strength, happiness and faith... they caused much horror. Witches are known for their ability to absorb the youth and life force of other creatures, which is one of their most terrible powers. Their powers were maintained by this, allowing them to live for centuries. The witches became increasingly dependent on this practice with each generation, eventually turning into cruel soul hunters. The witches became increasingly dependent on this practice with each generation, eventually turning into cruel soul hunters. They had no intention of living eternity confined to painful old bodies. They searched for ways to rejuvenate and live a beautiful life forever!

Physical Description

The appearance of witches ranges from slender facial features with snow-white skin, to deceased, old witches who lack the ability to properly eat. Frequently, they are either thin and undefined, or their appearance is severely distorted, and there may be no flesh at all. The color of their eyes often matches their magic, and their hair often sparkles with cold silver or sandy gold. It is believed that witches possess either green eyes with dark specks on their iris or rare combinations. It's possible for them to have different colors (heterochromia) or a pronounced black rim around the iris. With vast streams of magic running through their fingers and their uninterest in cutting their nails, their fingers often harden into claws, becoming natural sources of magical focus. It also aids them in catching victims. Witches can be of different genders.

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength, Intelligence and Wisdom scores each increase by 3. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
Manicured Nails. Your nails are rough and sharp and you can use them to make unarmed strikes. You have an advantage on attack rolls with unarmed strikes. Your nails deal 1d4 magical slashing damage, overcoming all resistance, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Youth Restoration. You can steal living creatures' youth, extending your own life and killing them. Using an action, you locate creatures up to 5 feet away from yourself. If the creature lived for under one-fifth of its total lifespan, then you will increase your maximum lifespan by 5 years; if the creature lived for under one-fourth of its lifespan, increase your lifespan by 3 years; if the creature lived for under one-third of its lifespan, increase your lifespan by 3 months; if the creature lived for under one-half of its lifespan, increase your lifespan by 1 day.
Bewitching Undercurrent. Your veins are filled with a powerful force that is always responsive to your desires and emotions. Release this force from your control to give it free rein, but watch out! The storm has no master! With your fingertips, you can unleash streams of lightning in a line 30 feet long and 10 feet wide. Each creature in the line takes 3d6 lightning damage. If you miss all creatures, you will receive all the damage you would have dealt as necrotic damage. Your magic changes and strengthens as you level. It deals 4d12 damage at 5th level, 5d18 at 11th level, 6d24 at 17th. You can use this trait 3 times a day at 5th level, twice at 11th level, and once at 17th level. You regain expended uses of this trait when you finish a long rest. You also know one cantrip of your choice from the wizard spell list. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for it.
Brave the Elements. Witches often live in cold ice peaks or hot deserts, which is why they are already accustomed to extreme heat or cold. You are less affected by them. You make checks for exhaustion when traveling through cold, heat, freezing terrain, and fire terrain with advantage. Additionally, you suffer no speed penalties when moving through difficult terrain in regions that are continental, polar, dry or in flames. You can also change spell damage, damage from natural weapons or any damage from fire to cold and vice versa.
Gifted. Any Witch has their own background and abilities often intertwined with the story of becoming a witch. You can get any two Feats.
