Godslayer Knight (5e Subclass)
Godslayer Knight[edit]
Barbarian Subclass
When the Sefiras (the young Gods of Necropia) resurrected thousands of years after their destruction, brought by the alliance between the living and the Primevals (the old gods), they've created a new race - or better, a new form of being: the Nors, also known as the "Non-Living". The return of the Sefiras was marked by the appearance of Kronor, a gigantic black hole in the skies of Necropia, which started the destruction of Shemesh, the Agonizing Sun. The Nors begin to appear from all corners of Necropia, between all races, and for a very long time they were persecuted and destroyed by the living. However, with the birth of a leader, a nor who would become the supreme emperor Thaumiel, the non-living organized and after two centuries of battles, managed to win against the realms of the living and their allies, the Primeval.
In the years that follow, many Primevals that weren't destroyed in the the Wars of Vengeance (the conflict that marked the ascension of the Empire of the Dead) begin to appear and forge powerful unholy alliances with communities and mortal tribes. Also, they created the Spawns, horrendous monsters that infected the reigns of the dead. The Primeval, as incarnations of chaotic life, were the greatest enemies of the dead, and their return in the many regions of Necropia inspired the Empire to create a knightly order of primeval hunters. The first and more important of those orders were the order of the Godslayer Knigths.
The name of the order derive from the fact that the Primevals were worshiped as Gods of the Living (that abandoned the Sefiras and, thus, suffer with the revenge of the young gods of Necropia). A Godslaying Knight is usually a member of a balanced group to form his hunting party, and will generally convoke warriors, magicians and cleric to complement their abilities.
Godslaying Knights are under the following hierarchy: Novice (2nd level or below) Hunter (5th level or below), Executioner (8th level or below) and Master Hunter (9th or 10th level). The ritual of passage for those entering the Order requires a couple of months of hard training and the completion of a mission. If the trainee survive with honor, the individual becomes part of the order.
- Detect Monsters
Starting at 3rd level, your senses are heightened to track and hunt monsters. You have proficiency in Perception and Survival. You add twice your proficiency bonus to these skills if you are already proficient with them.
- Giant Serrated Blade
Starting at 3rd level, you gain the main tool of all Godslayer Knights - the Serrated Blade. This blade is forged from Ironbone, and causes 3d6 slashing damage on a hit. If lost, you can forge another serrated blade by using bones of a deceased creature and performing a 8 hour ritual in which you must spend 300 gp in materials.
Creatures of medium size or smaller can't use this weapon, and creatures Large or larger that are not part of this subclass aren't considered proficient with it.
- Weak Spot
At 6h level, you can take the Search action as a Bonus Action. In addition, you can attempt to find a weak spot in your enemy using the Search action.
Make a Wisdom (Perception) check against a DC equal the target's CR or AC (whichever is higher). On a success, you discover that creature's damage resistances, immunities and vulnerabilities.
In addition, whenever you hit a creature whose weak spot you found with a melee weapon attack, you can force that creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier). On a failed save, that creature takes +1d6 damage.
The additional damage becomes +2d6 at 10th level and +3d6 at 14th level.
- Godslaying Rage
Also at 14th level, when you rage, you can choose to enter in a Godslaying Rage. When in a Godslaying Rage, you can make a single melee weapon attack at the end of each of your turns (no action required). After the Godslaying Rage ends, you must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, or suffer 1 level of exhaustion. The DC increases by 5 after each time you make this save.
