Genius[edit]

Rogue Archetype

Geniuses are rogues who have domain over multiple fields of knowledge. They can use their academic prowess and quick learning to unearth historical secrets, decipher codes or even comprehend the arcane powers that rule the universe. They have a hunger for knowledge and an endless curiosity, that often put them in dangerous situations. However, they can overcome hardship with quick thinking and adaptability.

In fights, they use their enhanced analytical skills to discover their opponents weaknesses and flaws, anticipate their movements and exploit windows of opportunities to crash their foes.

Polymath

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you have knowledge on a variety of topics. Whenever you finish a long rest, you can choose to learn one additional language, or gain proficiency with one tool, skill or weapon of your choice, as long as you have a place from where you can draw that knowledge, such as an ally with that proficiency or a place you can research.

You can learn a number of additional languages and proficiencies trough this feature equal to your Intelligence modifier(minimum 1). You retain this knowledge for as long as you want to, having ability to replace one of the languages or proficiencies learned with this feature during the long rest.

You gain free polymath points on level 9, 13 and 17. These points are used the same way as the ability uses your Intelligence modifier whilst not being tied to the said Intelligence modifier.

You can put points of expertise on the skills that you become proficient with using polymath. If you change the skill that you are expert with on another, that you are not, using the polymath ability, the expertise stays dormant on the previous skill, not giving any additional bonuses, and needing a proficiency to return in order to become active again.

Analytical Combat

Starting at 3rd level, you can use your bonus action to make a careful analysis of an opponents weaknesses, make an Intelligence (Investigation) check against a creature you can see that isn't incapacitated, contested by the target's Charisma (Deception) check. If you succeed, you can make Sneak Attacks against that creature without needing advantage on the attack.

In addition, when you would hit that creature with a Sneak Attack, you can choose to forgo any amount of damage dice, up to your maximum, to discover one of the following traits per die spent: its AC, maximum hit points, one ability score, its speed, one damage resistance (if any), one damage immunity (if any), one condition immunity (if any) or one saving throw proficiency.

This benefit lasts for 1 minute or until you successfully use this feature against a different target.

Quick Thinker

Starting at 3rd level, you can feel your mind work with an incredibly fast pace as blood pumps into the brain with great premise of adrenaline when it's most needed. You can make an Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma saving throw with an advantage. This feature is limited in amount of uses to your proficiency modifier. The uses of this ability restore after a long rest.

Aware Mind

Starting at 9th level, your mind can react and adapt quickly to every situation. You gain a bonus to your Initiative rolls equal to your Intelligence modifier and you cannot be surprised while you are conscious.

You gain one point in your polymath ability that is not tied to your Intelligence modifier.

Versatile Learning

Starting at 13th level, you can adapt your knowledge to fit the situation. You gain two points in your polymath ability that are not tied to your Intelligence modifier. In addition, you can now use your polymath ability to learn cantrips. Your spellcasting ability for the cantrips is Intelligence.

More to that, your mind and erudition allows you to improvise with ease when using the items that weren't intended for you to be used. You ignore all class, race, and level requirements on the use of magic items.

Insightful Fight

At 17th level, you can use your quick thinking to predict your enemies' next moves. All attacks made by the target of your Analytical Combat have disadvantage against you, and you have advantage on any saving throws they force you to make.

Additionally, whenever the target of your Analytical Combat misses with an attack whilst being within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to make an opportunity attack against it. This opportunity attack, if hits, can deal Sneak Attack damage.

At last, you gain three points in your polymath ability that are not tied to your Intelligence modifier.
