Firelings are a proud and passionate race, long forgotten by the surface-dwellers of Thra. Governed by three matriarchal figures, known as the Ember Queens, Firelings reside peacefully inside Thra's burning core. Although forgotten, the secret world of Mithra clutches desperately to the light of the Crystal of Truth and is influenced by its power. In truth, Firelings originally Gelfling who had perished in the extreme heat at the core of their planet. As a Gelfling's life give back to Thra this in turn, created a Gelfling made of pure fire and could dwell in the incredible temperature at the center of Thra. Firelings and Gelfling alike have forgotten this origin story, yet the Firelings still pay respect to the first ember, Cindra.

Physical Qualities[edit]

Firelings appear to closely resemble Thra's various distinctions of Gelfling, yet lack the defining feminine wings they posses. Residing deep within the planet's core, Firelings are enveloped in fire often being described as having living flames as long flowing hair. Older members of this race begin to develop smooth skin that stretches outward from their face into delicate fins and antennae.

Surviving in Mithra, Firelings are able to live long comfortable lives for a great many of Trine. At the end of its life, a Fireling dims until it crumbles into ash in order to fuel their molten world. In this way, the soul of a Fireling rises from its fallen ashes giving new life to its people.

Attitudes and Beliefs[edit]

Firelings are passionate and loyal to their kind, defending their loved ones at all cost. While the strength of a Fireling can be compared to the shade of their flame, even an orange ember can cause a devastating flare.

Fireling Communities[edit]

The firelings live well away from the surface of Thra due to moisture being their weakness. They live within the burning core, under the governance by the Ember Queens. A river once ran through and divided the firelings into tribes. They are unified under a series of chiefs, and their unity is symbolized by the Glass Castle, which was rebuilt after the Great Dim nearly pushed firelings to extinction. It stands as a symbol of their resilience in one another.

Roleplaying a Fireling[edit]

Firelings are a proud race that advance their kingdom with art, history, and architecture. Though several small villages are spread throughout Mithra, most denizens reside in a glass castle suspended over a volcanic lake. Just as Thra, the source of Mithra's life comes from the Crystal of Truth and relies heavily on the crystal's light. Firelings are often very quick to anger and are quite stubborn, but usually possess a strong moral gravitation towards justice. They are governed by three monarchs who serve as voices for their people.

Fireling Characteristics: Artistic, innovative, fearless, loyal

Fireling Names: Cindra, Fiola, Glasme, Nita, Thurma
