Domain Expansion Creation Guide[edit]

In order to know how to make a Domain Expansion, first go to Domain Expansion.

What Is The Domain Like?[edit]

While all Domains are unique, there is something about them that they all have in common. They reflect the mindset and perspective of the Sorcerer. Consider this when creating a Domain Expansion. What are your characters motivations? What drives them forward? How do they view their technique? For example, one Sorcerer with a manipulation type technique might have a domain composed entirely out of the material they manipulate, while another user of the technique might have one centered around a favoured Extension Technique of theirs, while a third might have one completely unrelated to their technique in design apart from the sure-hit effect. The possibilities are endless!

The Domains Sure-hit[edit]

The greatest strength of a Domain Expansion is its sure-hit effect. Some Domains sure-hits comprise solely of the wielders Innate Technique, while others have unique effects. Work with your GM to decide on what the sure hit of your domain is like. Remember that while the Domain will be powerful, it should not be so in a way that completely breaks the game or does not follow the rules of the Supplement. This can be a tricky thing to achieve, so be careful!

Examples of Fanmade Domain Expansions[edit]

Domain Expansion: Excrescent Gallery[edit]

Choso creates a immense red painted hallway, with five arches and ten paintings placed on the wall, each painting displaying one of Choso's siblings. While inside his domain, Choso can now use any of his blood attacks by spending no cursed energy. All of these attacks will deal one additional damage dice and will count as magical, and will count as the sure-hit effect.

Domain Expansion: All-Enveloping Garbhadhatu[edit]

Kenjaku manifests a totem-esque tower of grotesque, cursed spirit-like faces that are all merged together. All creatures within the domain of his choice are targeted with Crushing Gravity, dealing 25d10 force damage and knocking them prone. Kenjaku has access to a Barrierless Domain.

Domain Expansion: Realms of Dukkha Samsara[edit]

Geto’s Domain is on a great six-sectioned stone wheel with Geto standing in the middle and a massive creature looming over it with a Maximum: Uzumaki in its palm. Every round a hostile creature spends in the domain, they lose 4 Cursed Energy. Additionally, if a cursed spirit gets within 10 feet of the Maximum: Uzumaki in the creatures palm, they must make a DC 18 Charisma saving throw. On a failure, they are sucked into the Uzumaki and destroyed.

Domain Expansion: Empty Realm of Extinction[edit]

Geto’s Domain is a blank white void with Geto sitting atop a dark spiral. Every round a hostile creature spends in the domain, they lose 40 Cursed Energy. If said creature is a Cursed Spirit and their cursed energy goes to 0, they are automatically absorbed into Cursed Spirit Manipulation.

Domain Expansion: Metallic Chamber of Transfiguration[edit]

Kokichi has a non-lethal Domain Expansion, composed of a circular room filled with metal doors, which grants him a metallic suit that grants him powerful abilities. For every turn, the suit grants more abilities:

Turn 1: Kokich gains a +2 to his AC.

Turn 2: The suit gains a cursed energy pool of 25 that Kokichi can draw on.

Turn 3: The suit gains a flying speed of 65 ft, costing 1 cursed energy per round while it is active.

Turn 4:Kokich gains a +2 to his AC.

Turn 5: The suits cursed energy pool increases by 25.

Turn 6: The suit gains the Ultra Cannon feature.

Mechamaru must maintain concentration while his suit is being created. After the Domain is closed, the suit remains present for 8 hours. If Kokichi opens his Domain while his suit is present, the timer is reset and any upgrades the suit receives are considered as though all previous turns already apply.

Domain Expansion: Chimera Shadow Garden (JJK-1)[edit]

Megumi's Domain is a huge shadow pool, dimly illuminated by teal light with the Merged Beast looming over everything. The sure hit of the domain applies to a constant barrage of ten separate attacks, each representing a different one of Megumi's shikigami:

Divine Slash. Deals 7d8 slashing damage.

Lightning Charge. Deals 3d10 lightning damage and knocks the target prone.

Venom Spray. Deals 7d8 poison damage and poisons the target.

Tongue Crush. The target is grappled by a shadowy tongue and crushed, taking 4d6 force damage.

Pressurized Beam.' Deals 13 (3d8) bludgeoning damage and 28 (7d8) piercing damage.

Shadow Rain. The target is hit by 7 droplets of shadow every turn, each dealing 1d4 force damage.

Radiant Aura. If the target is human, they are healed for 7d10 hit points every turn, while if they are a Cursed Spirit, they take 7d10 Radiant damage every turn.

Gore. A horn is summoned that deals 7d12 piercing damage.

Striped Shockwave. Deals 7d12 force damage.

General's Judgement. a wheel appears above the targets head. The target is adapted to, becoming unable to deal any sort of damage to Megumi. This adaptation only applies to inside the Domain, and is lost when the Domain disappears.

Megumi can choose which attacks apply to any creatures upon the activation of the Domain.

Shadow Clones. As a bonus action while inside the domain, he can spend up to 5 cursed energy to create a number of clones of himself equal to the energy spent. The clones are identical to him, but don't keep his weapons or hit points, and cannot use cursed energy. They each have 5 hitpoints, and they become a shadow puddle once they're reduced to 0 hit points. Megumi may use his reaction to switch places with a clone when he would be hit, making the clone take the hit instead.

Shikigami Clones. His domain allows him to summon copies of his shikigami to overwhelm his opponents. Whenever he summons a shikigami, he can spend additional cursed energy equal to the shikigami's cost (even if the shikigami costs 0 cursed energy, it will be treat its price as if he were outside his domain) to summon a perfect copy of said shikigami alongside it. You can spend cursed energy this way a number of times up to your Charisma modifier on the same turn. He cannot create copies of Mahoraga with this feature.

Merged Beast. Megumi's Domain contains a colossal shikigami that has traits of all his base shikigami called the Merged Beast. Megumi may order the Merged Beast to attack any creature inside his Domain.

Domain Expansion: Chimera Factory[edit]

Fujiwara manifests a domain filled with liquid shadows, constantly merging and falling apart attempting to create Totalities.

At the beginning of Fujiwara turns whilst inside the domain, he picks one location within the domain and rolls 1d20.

  • 1-5: The liquid shadows completely fail to merge, nothing happens.
  • 5-10: The liquid shadows attempt to merge but quickly fail, bursting out in all directions and forcing every creature within a 10 ft. radius of the location to make DC 21 Dexterity saving throw or take 52 (8d12) bludgeoning damage.
  • 10-15: The liquid shadows partially succeed, able to create a creature but failing to create a totality. Create one Failed Totality at the location.
  • 15-19: The liquid shadows succeed in temporarily creating a Totality, create one Totality out of 2 tamed and unsummoned shikigami at the location. The two shikigami may still be summoned whilst the Totality is summoned and the Totality will disappear on a long rest. If 2 tamed and unsummoned shikigami are not available, create a Failed Totality instead.
  • 20: The liquid shadows completely succeed in creating a Totality, Fujiwara may pick one tamed shikigami and use the liquid shadows to merge it with another tamed shikigami. A Totality made this way combines the shikigami perfectly, the Totality is permanent and the individual shikigami can no longer be summoned, all restrictions on making a Totality (e.g number of shikigami in the totality, shikigamis compatibility with eachother, etc) are bypassed using this method. If 2 tamed shikigami are not available, create a Failed Totality instead.

The sure hit of this domain is attacks by Failed Totalities and the Dexterity saving throw from rolling a 5-10.

All Failed Totalities disappear on a long rest.

Domain Expansion: Sea, Storms and Fields[edit]

Hayai's Domain Expansion, centered in a large, destroyed cityscape in the midst of a raging storm, has all items Hayai has in his possession lying around, which he can manipulate both at a distance and bring to his person like normal. Furthermore, his Domain Expansion automatically assigns any non-living items as Hayai's possessions upon entrance.
