Failed Dorjes and Wands (3.5e Variant Rule)
Dojore[edit]
A dojore is a magic wand or psionic crystal that contains a single power and is the result of a failed crafting check attempt to create an item of one of these types. Each dojore has no actual charges itself when created, it instead uses the power a manifester channels into it to power the spell or power. A dojore will only last 30 days after creation unless sealed with an application of the permanency spell or equivalent psionic power.
Physical Description[edit]
A typical psionic dojore is an elongated crystal of one color (or colorless), between 8 inches and 10 inches long and about 1/2 inch thick, which can weigh up to 1/4 pound. Occasionally, a dojore is decorated with carvings or inscribed runes along a face of the crystal. A typical dojore has AC 7, 7 hit points, a hardness of 8, and a break DC of 18.
A typical magical dojore resembles the wand it was first constructed to become, between 12 inches and 18 inches long and about 1/2 inch thick, which can weigh up to 1/4 pound. Occasionally, a dojore is decorated with carvings or inscribed runes along a handle of the wand. A typical dojore has AC 7, 7 hit points, a hardness of 8, and a break DC of 18.
Activation[edit]
Dojore are activated by channeling a spell or psionic power (depending on what type of dojore it is) through it to provide the energy needed to activate the dojore's stored power. Unlike normal wands and dorjes, the level of the spell or power is not set at creation. Instead it uses the manifester's level to determine the level of the spell or power being activated along with the amount of spell or psionic energy they channel through it. The manifester must channel a minimum amount of energy through the dojore as the spell or power would normally required if the user had the spell or power, that is to say a Magic Missile Dojore requires a minimum of a 1st level spell to activate or a 3rd level spell dojore requires a 3rd level spell and fifth level spell Dojore would require a fifth level spell to energize it. By using a higher amount of spell or psionic energy the dojore is able to operate at a greater effect as long as the user is high enough level to cast the spell normally.
