Genasi Subrace[edit]

The eldrati are a subrace of genasi who have become attuned to eldritch energy and dark magic. Therefore, they are created of necrotic elements rather than the usual material elemental genasi that are more common. In appearance, the eldritch energy makes them seem more grotesque or ugly in appearance, with pitch black eyes, a stench, or even extra appendages that seem to have no useful function. They are more likely to be evil than good, but many are still of good alignment. Eldrati generally stay away from other genasi because they have a history of misunderstandings that led to their estrangement from the rest of their race. Now, they mainly remain within their own circles. Many make their homes in the Underdark. Some of the evil ones make the return to Shadowfell to revere the Raven Queen.
