Diamond Kingdom

The Diamond Kingdom; a stark land of mines and wastelands, chiseled by hardship and sharpened by war. Bereft of abundant resources, the kingdom survives not through diplomacy or trade, but by the edge of its sword and the fury of its Mage Warriors. To live under the Diamond banner is to know the value of military power.

The Mage Warriors are the lifeblood of the Diamond Kingdom’s relentless military machine—arcane soldiers honed through grueling training and bound in service to their monarch. Above them loom the Eight Shining Generals, fabled paragons of magical might and brutal efficiency, each commanding vast legions and carrying the weight of their kingdom’s ambitions on armored shoulders.

You may have served under one of these legendary generals, grown up in the shadows of conquered lands, or fled the kingdom’s harsh regime in search of freedom or purpose. Whatever your path, your origin is etched into your bones like veins of iron in cold stone—unyielding, unforgotten.

Background Features

When choosing the Diamond Kingdom background, you must choose one of the following background features.

Mage Warrior

You are one of the many Mage Warriors that serve the Diamond Kingdom. Ruthless, keen, and eager to die to obtain resources for the nation, that’s what Mage Warriors are taught to believe they should be.

You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened. In addition, Intelligence (Investigation) checks made to find gold or other ores are made with advantage.

Skill Proficiencies: You are considered proficient with one of the following: Athletics, Deception, Intimidation, Investigation.

Tool Proficiencies: Smith’s tools.

Equipment: A military badge or insignia from your Mage Warrior unit, a set of Military Clothes, and 10 GP.

Mage Scholar

You are one of the many Mage Scholars the Diamond Kingdom possesses, depraved people who perform human experiments to bolster the power of Mage Warriors.

Whenever you have to make a Wisdom (Medicine) check that involves surgery, you make it with advantage.

Skill Proficiencies: Arcana, Medicine.

Tool Proficiencies: Alchemist’s Supplies, Herbalism Kit.

Equipment: A bloodstained notebook filled with anatomical diagrams, a surgical scalpel, a Diamond Kingdom research insignia, a vial of preserved tissue or organ sample, and 10 GP.

Army Deserter

You used to be a Mage Warrior, fighting in the frontlines for the Diamond Kingdom. One day however, something has made you give up on this life. A love interest, the cruelty, the horrific experiments, whatever your reason was, you must now lay low to avoid being hunted.

You have advantage on Charisma (Performance) checks to pretend to be another person.

Skill Proficiencies: Performance and one other skill of your choice.

Tool Proficiencies: One Artisan’s tool of your choice.

Equipment: A worn cloak or scarf used to hide your identity, a token from your past life (a locket, ring, a painting), a set of Common Clothes, 5 GP.
