College of Relaxation (5e Subclass)

Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Go With The Flow grants you a second, bigger pool of Bardic Inspiration dice with worse wording. Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee grants a potential +16 to hit at higher levels (bounded accuracy means most players only get a +11, and it takes a Very Rare magic item to pump that up to +14). Relaxed, Both in Mind and in Body grants resistance to the three most common damage types at 6th level forever (barbarians have to spend a Rage to get the same benefit, and their whole thing is taking damage). The Chillest Dude can grant a +21 (that's an auto-hit against plate+shield, and a roll of 4 needed to hit Tiamat herself).

Stub Logo.png This page is incomplete and/or lacking flavor. Reason: Every feature effectively boils down to "what if number big", can't we get anything more interesting? Barring feature names, this subclass does nothing to represent the idea of a bard educated in relaxation or play into bard's primary role as a support class. How about more efficient short rests or improving Song of Rest? Shorter long rests? Anything against the frightened condition? Can we use Bardic Inspiration dice for anything like the official bard subclasses do? Maybe some sort of benefit for non-damaging spells against creatures at their maximum hit points? Maybe some sort of major defensive benefit that lasts until you take damage or lose hit points? This concept could be interesting, but as it is now these mechanics are just boring; if you want to play a bard that weaves around attacks (not that this subclass actually grants you any evasion-based defenses) and focuses on dealing damage, valor bard already exists.

College of Relaxation[edit]

Those who join the college of relaxation strive to live a comfortable and relaxing life. These bards play music, not to entertain others, but to entertain themselves.
