Circle of the City[edit]

Druids within the Circle of the City, have adapted druidism to an urban environment. Even with refined and manufactured materials, typically found within the urban sprawl of a city, the druid has control of the elements. They adapt their magic to shape and manipulate metal, stone, wood, and toxic smog that makes up a city's anatomy, as well as communing with domesticated beasts and insects that thrive within it. The result is a very versatile practitioner of druidism, that can utilize most of the skills available to other druid circles, but in a less potent form than their primal counterparts.

Circle Spells[edit]

The following spells are added to your list of prepared spells at their respective levels:

Druid Level Spells
3rd Mirror Image, Invisibility
5th Gaseous Form, Stinking Cloud

Urban Shape[edit]

Druid's in this circle, have limited the more traditional Wild Shape forms, into forms that allow them to move about a city without drawing unwanted attention. Urban Shape follows similar rules to Wild Shape, but with the added limitation of only shape shifting into city-dwelling animals.

  • You can use urban shape on your turn as a bonus action, rather than as an action.
  • Starting at 4th level you can use your urban shape to transform into beasts with a CR as high as 1. You ignore the Max. CR column of the Beast Shapes table, but must abide by the other limitations there. Starting at 6th level, you can transform into a beast with a challenge rating as high as your druid level divided by 3, rounded down.
  • You also get access to humanoid-beast shapes such as Were-beasts. Additionally, any attacks made while in the beast form of a were-beast count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to non-magical attacks and damage.

Domestic Bond[edit]

At 3rd level a Circle of the City druid may have an urban companion that acts as a magical companion for the druid. The list of possible companions must only include animals that typically inhabit an urban environment. Possibilities include cats, dogs, rats, bats, owls, ravens, etc. or a small animated object. If an urban druid release their companion, they may only reacquire a new one after a long rest. A chosen companion may never be a higher CR than 1/4th the druid's level rounded down. At 6th level the list of possible companions can extend to medium constructs and monsters that can also be found in an urban environment such as Clay Golems, Gargoyles, Rust Monsters, Basilisk, etc. These companions must also follow the previously stated CR rule.

Urban Stride[edit]

Beginning at 6th level, the Circle of the City druid becomes so talented at moving through crowds and fighting in close quarters that they gain advantage on acrobatics checks and strength checks through occupied spaces. Additionally, you do not provoke attacks of opportunity when moving through a hostile occupied space.

Blight Ward[edit]

At 9th level you are immune to poison and disease.
