Celestrals are an ancient race of fey that draw power from starlight. Enigmatic and wise, they spend their long lives studying the aspects and properties of stars and developing a deep bond to the night skies, feeling a strong desire to be closer with the stars, as if feeling a compulsion to do so. While not necessarily social, it is not unheard of to meet a celestral who has left one of their grand cities on a quest to further their knowledge of the stars and their magic.

Play a celestral if you want...

  • To be connected to the stars and their magic.
  • To be a member of a race who is long-lived and wise.
  • To be a member of a race who favors the warlock, druid, and artificer classes.

Physical Qualities[edit]

Celestrals resemble any other humanoid fey; slender, pointed ears, fine features. Their skin can range from pale to a light brown. Their hair is often long and silky, the color ranging from silvery white to gold, though can occasionally come in shades of pale blues. One thing that marks their connection to the stars is their eyes; which often come in deep tones of blues or violets, with no pupils. Instead, they have white flecks in their eyes, mimicking the appearance of stars in a night sky.

Many celestrals wear flowing, silky clothing, adorned with fine jewels or belts. They prefer clothes that hang loosely from their frames and keeps their legs and shoulders uncovered. They also commonly wear bracelets, armbands, or other such jewelry.

Celestrals live a little bit longer than eladrin; about 500 years. They mature roughly the same way humans do, and show no signs of aging past maturity.

Playing a Celestral[edit]

Celestrals are long-lived, and in their times they have seen much. They have seen wars, they have seen bloodshed, and they have seen eras of complete peace. Nothing really phases them anymore; not that it had anyways. They often focus more on their studies of the stars than anything else. Short-lived conflicts were the least of their troubles, and really only lasted barely a blink of an eye. As such, they are very often aloof and detached, finding little reason to meddle in conflicts that don't concern them.

Of course, there are celestrals who have been concerned about the world around them, and have gotten involved in issues beyond the stars, though they seem to be the younger ones; ones that have not yet had to experience centuries of conflict surrounding them. Younger celestrals are more often than not reactive and naive, and have the tendency to act rashly.

Most celestrals stick to their sprawling cities, which are surrounded in nature and far from other civilization. Their cities often all have observatories, so that they can observe the stars and pursue their studies. When a celestral does leave their city, it is more often than not to further their studies elsewhere. Though, it's not unheard of that a celestral would leave their city for other reasons. Some celestrals would claim that they were compelled to leave because "the stars told them something was wrong", and that they had to aid in stopping that trouble.

Celestral Adventurers[edit]

Three sample celestral adventurers are described below.

Eratem is a celestral warlock under a star pact. He made the pact long ago to further his connection to the stars and their magic and enhance his studies. He left his city in pursuit of studying what he could do by channeling the power of the stars and, through a strange set of circumstances, found himself in the company of an adventuring party. He now wanders the land, going on quests with his allies and aiding them with the power of his stars.

Aseli is a celestral druid. Naive and young, Aseli left her city to aid in the efforts of a war against a kingdom that was trying to invade a small city-state. She took up the arts of nature through her studies and used them to defend her allies, and eventually aided in the victory of the city-state against the invading kingdom.

Kiric is a celestral artificer. An odd celestral, he seemed to be curious in if star magic could enhance items. After tests upon tests, he managed to imbue his magic into a ring. Curious if he could take it further, he conducted more tests, seeing if he could imbue magic into more items, or restore items that were already enchanted.
