When a creature walks on a caltrop, they take 1d8 piercing damage. If they take damage this way and have feet, the caltrop gets stuck in their foot. With a caltrop stuck in their foot, the creature’s walking speed is halved and they take 1d4 piercing damage every time they use the dash action.

Removing the caltrop. You can use your action to remove a caltrop from your foot or another’s foot, which inflicts 2d8 piercing damage. You can make a DC 20 wisdom (medicine) check to remove the caltrop from your own foot without taking any damage, or a DC 15 wisdom (medicine) check to remove a caltrop from another’s foot without them taking damage.
