Bubble Witch[edit]

The Orbwrights, or Bubble Witches, are a secretive order of arcane inventors, have unlocked the secrets of the whispering currents of magic. They craft shimmering spheres of pure potential, each orb a delicate dance between creation and control. These are not mere bubbles, but shimmering shields, floating beacons, and even temporary sanctuaries, each layer imbued with complex sigils of abjuration and conjuration. Their art, often misunderstood as whimsical, is a testament to the profound understanding of flux and resilience. They possess a deep understanding of the ephemeral nature of their craft, and their orbs reflect a playful yet powerful command over the arcane. They are often found in hidden groves and moonlit glades, their laughter mingling with the gentle hum of their luminous spheres.

Expanded Spell List[edit]

Bubble Witches gain access to the following spells at the corresponding levels. These spells count as Wizard spells for you but do not count against the number of spells you can prepare each day.

Flavor note for you and the DM: Flavor your spells as if they are contained within or shaped by shimmering bubbles or spheres, with magic emerging from them like bursts of protective or forceful energy, or manifesting as floating orbs that swirl and pulse with arcane power.

Arcane Bubble[edit]

As a bonus action, you can conjure arcane bubbles a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus (minimum of once). You conjure 1d4+1 shimmering, semi-transparent bubbles at points you can see within range. Each bubble has a radius of 5 feet and hit points equal to 1d8 + your Intelligence modifier. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

You can send these bubbles to a specific location or creature within 30 feet of you as part of the bonus action.

Arcane Bubble: Techniques[edit]

Starting at 2nd level, you can pick a number of techniques to use with your bubbles equal to your Intelligence modifier, with a maximum of 3 techniques. Bubble techniques give your bubbles different abilities for various situations. Only one bubble can use an empowering technique at a time. If you use an empowering technique on one bubble, you cannot use the same technique on a different bubble.

You can switch the techniques equipped once per long rest.

Bubble Techniques[edit]

Bubble Specialization[edit]

At 6th level, you gain a specialization for your arcane bubbles. Choose one of the following:

  • Bubble Barrier: As a reaction, you can expand a bubble to create a temporary barrier. The barrier provides half-cover to creatures behind it, granting a +2 bonus to AC and Dexterity saving throws until the start of your next turn.
  • Bubble Step: By manipulating the bubbles around you, you gain the ability to step lightly. As a reaction when you fall or make a jump, you can create a cushioning bubble beneath you. You take no falling damage, and your jump distance is doubled for that turn.
  • Bubble Vanish: You create a special bubble that cloaks you briefly. As a reaction, when you are targeted by an attack, you can burst this bubble, granting yourself advantage on the Dexterity saving throw or making you invisible until the start of your next turn.

You can switch specialization every long rest.

Soaring Orbs[edit]

At 10th level, your connection with your bubbles deepens, allowing them to aid you in flight. As an action, you can stand on one of your bubbles, gaining a flying speed equal to your walking speed for a duration of 10 minutes. During this time, you can pass through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain.

Arcane Singularity[edit]

At 14th level, your bubbles reach the pinnacle of their power, enabling you to create an Arcane Singularity. As an action, you can summon a powerful orb that exudes a field of arcane energy in a 30-foot radius. Creatures within the area must make an Intelligence saving throw or take 3d12 force damage and be incapacitated for one round on a failed save, or half damage on a successful save with no other effects. This ability can be used once per long rest. Doing this will pop all other bubbles on the field.
