Band of Investiture (3.5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
|Caster Level:||See table|
|Aura:||See table; (DC varies) Conjuration|
Highly prized by Illusionists and Shadowcasters, Bands of Investiture have the potent effect of making a creature's Illusion effects partially or wholly real —some even render the illusory effects hyperreal. These conjurations can deal a percentage of normal damage to their targets according to the table. A Band of Investiture must be worn for one week before it is attuned to the wearer and has any effect. If it is removed, the owner must wear it for another week to reattune it to himself.
The partial reality conferred upon illusion effects stems from the ring's connection to the Plane of Shadow, thus any illusion with the shadow descriptor bolstered by the ring is conferred an additiona 10% investiture. Only one Band of Investiture may be worn at a time for any effect, but the reality effect stacks with any conferred by another source, such as that granted by a shadow conjuration spell. Unlike shadow conjuration, however, the partial reality conferred by a Band of Investiture is not illusory, so creatures who disbelieve the illusions will still be affected if they interact with the illusion (a creature which successfully disbelieves the illusion still only has a 20% chance to be affected by the partial reality conferred by the spell itself).
A Band of Investiture bestows upon the wearer’s illusion effects a semblance of reality according to the table.
