You determine the true properties of one item of your choice within range.
You learn all of the item's properties and functions (as well as how to activate these functions) as well as the number of charges left in the item (if any). This utterance does not affect artifacts unless cast at 6th level or higher. This utterance has no effect when spoken backwards.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this utterance using a 4th level or higher slot, you also identify all spells and the level of these spells that are currently in effect on the item. If you instead use a 5th level or higher slot, you can instead target a person with this utterance in order to learn all spells currently affected that target and any innate magic that creature has. When you use a 6th level or higher slot, you can now target an artifact with this utterance, and you learn how to destroy the targeted artifact. If the artifact is sentient, they can make a Charisma saving throw against your Spell Save DC in order to hide how they can be destroyed.
