Abyssdweller[edit]

You were spawned in the layers of the Abyss. You might be a demon, or a lost soul.

Do you have any memories of the time in the Abyss? What have you experienced? Have you received torture or torment in any kind and if yes, was there a reason for that? Were you part of the army of a demon lord? Did you fight against devils or other demons? What is the reason that you are not part of that world anymore? Maybe you found a way out by yourself, someone sent you on a mission, or you were summoned by a cult or other force?

Prerequisite: You must either be native to the abyss or have a good reason, why you were there. You might want to work that out with your DM.

Skill Proficiencies: Choose any two: Arcana, Intimidation, Religion, Deception

Tool Proficiencies: Torture Tools

Languages: Choose one: Abyssal, Infernal, Celestial or Deep Speech

Equipment: A torture tools kit, a set of common clothes, a small belt pouch containing 5 gp, and a trinket from the lower planes

Feature: Life of torture[edit]

As a dweller of the abyss, almost everything and everyone around you tended towards a chaotic evil nature, which was impressed by their aggressiveness and their insatiable desire to destroy and harm. This combined with your own tendency towards a chaotic evil alignment as a abyss-dweller, enables some benefits in terms of torture. If the hit points of a creature are reduced to 0, you might choose to bring it back to life and torture it (for information or own pleasure) at which end, the tortured creature dies immediately. You can’t torture a creature longer than 30 minutes by this method. If you do this while in combat, you can move the body away first. Each step you make with the body costs double the amount of speed. If the creature was killed outright, you have two rounds or 12 seconds to do the effects above, or you can’t bring the creature back to life. While bringing the creature back to life again, you try to grab it’s soul and get it back to the material realm. You must succeed a DC 13 Constitution Saving throw, or the soul is lost.

3 Freedom. If you have the possibility to do everything you want, what could stop you from doing that? (Chaotic)
4 Hate. Everyone not from the Abyss does not deserve to live. (Evil)
5 Integrity. Reducing the pain of someone means less pain in the entire world. (Good)
6 Destruction. Chaos is more likely than order. Let's help with this process. (Chaotic)

1 There is no way I'll go back to the abyss. If there is a way to survive, I will take it, even when that means I have to leave others behind.
2 Thinking about the abyss always makes me angry.

4 I have an explosive nature. It's pretty easy to trigger me.
5 Sometimes I talk to myself. The time in the abyss was long and lonely...
6 I usually keep stuff I find or get for me.
