The abyssal superior phantom fungus is the result of centuries of breeding experiments of Zuggtmoy, the Demon Lady of Fungus. Usually, Zuggtmoy uses those creatures as scouters or guarding beasts. Sometimes, although, the Demon Lady of Fungus send one or more abyssal superior phantom fungus to the Material Plane, in order to support (or, most commonly, punish them) their worshippers.

An abyssal superior phantom fungus resembles an average specimen of their kind, just larger and with bone-like thorns and reddish veins. Of course, those differences is visible when dead.

Combat[edit]

As abyssal superior phantom fungus is more aggressive than their non-fiendish conterparts, but they still uses the same tactics: attacks lone individuals almost anywhere, but when tackling groups it prefers an open space where it has a better chance.

Smite Good (Su): Once per day the abyssal superior phantom fungus can make a normal melee attack to deal +6 points of extra damage equal to its HD total against a good foe.

Greater Invisibility (Su): This ability is constant, allowing an abyssal superior phantom fungus to remain invisible even when attacking. It works like greater invisibility (caster level 12th) and lasts as long as the abyssal superior phantom fungus is alive. This ability is not subject to the invisibility purge spell. A abyssal superior phantom fungus becomes visible 1 minute after it is killed.

Skills: A phantom fungus has a +5 racial bonus on Move Silently checks.
