  • Put a limit on what creature kill qualifies for the special task, or the player is going to pass it in one hour by shooting at wildlife.
  • You need to describe the needlegun.
  • I thought perhaps crafting the needlegun could be the "special task" prerequisite. You would have to find the schematics and the materials, set aside a special crafting area. That's a more story-based approach, might be more interesting than just shooting a guy.
  • Firearms are campaign-specific. They appear in the DMG as examples for a renaissance, modern or futuristic campaigns. Is this class for a renaissance campaign?
  • For gunsmithing, use the existing mechanic for crafting. It's a downtime activity (check your PHB p. 187). Let the DM determine if materials are available or not. The rate of crafting is already set by the value of the items. You can have the feature speed it up by having firearms be crafted in larger daily increments (10 gp would be twice speed, 50 gp would be ten-times speed, etc)
  • Double proficiency on attack rolls is specifically called out in the rulebooks as something that shouldn't normally happen. It gives a +2 to +6 bonus (in a game where +1 to attack is nice, +2 is great and +3 is exceptional). It might be okay as something that needs to recover (perhaps even as soon as 1 minute, that would let you use it once per combat). Marasmusine (talk) 03:17, 29 December 2016 (MST)

More questions[edit]

  • How do i specify that it would be for a rennaissance campaign?
"This class is for a renaissance campaign, or any campaign with the presence of firearms. Check with your DM. "
I suppose it could also be played in a campaign with no firearms, with the player solely relying on the needlegun. Marasmusine (talk) 11:22, 29 December 2016 (MST)
