Yelp[edit]

A humanoid which has been afflicted with Yelp Fever or created by positive aligned necromancers.

Upon turning into a Yelp a creatures flesh goes pale, it loses all its hair, its eyes turn blood shot, and all its sense of sight is empowered. A Yelp grows a stinger, which is located in their right wrist, hidden by a skin hood when not in use and protruding out, past the hand like a spike when in use.

Here is a sample Yelp using a level two Fighter Karmainian as the base creature.

Fighting Traditions (Ex): This ghoul has the Savage Slayer Fighter Tradition. As such his Strike dice are increased to d8 and he can can use the [[SRD:Intimidate Skill|Intimidate Skill] to Demoralize an enemy as a Swift Action.

Paralysis (Ex): Those hit by a Yelp’s stinger or claw attack must succeed on a DC 12 Fortitude save or be paralyzed for 1d4+1 rounds. The save DC is Charisma-based.

Strike (Ex): The Fighter has a pool of damage dice he can allocate to successful attacks each round. On a successful attack, the fighter may add any or all of his Strike dice to the damage inflicted by his attack. Once Strike dice are added to an attack, they are effectively “spent” until the beginning of your next turn.

Yelp Fever (Su): Disease—sting, Fortitude DC 12, incubation period 1 day, damage 1d3 Con and 1d3 Dex. The save DC is Charisma-based.

An afflicted humanoid who dies from yelp fever rises as a yelp at the next noon. The humanoid gains the Yelp Template. It is not under the control of any other yelps, but it hungers for the flesh of the living and behaves like a normal yelp in all respects.

Creating a Yelp[edit]

"Yelp" is an acquired template that can be added to any Humanoid, or Monstrous Humanoid creature (refered to hereafter as the base creature).

A Yelp has all the base creature's statistics and special abilities except as noted here.

Size and Type[edit]

The creature’s type changes to Deathless. Do not recalculate base attack bonus, saves, or skill points gained by class levels. Size is unchanged.

Hit Dice[edit]

Increase racial Hit Dice are changed to d12s.

Armor Class[edit]

A Yelp has a +3 natural armor bonus to Armor Class, or the base creature’s natural armor bonus, whichever is better.

Attack[edit]

A yelp gains a primary stinger attack and two secondary claw attacks, unless the base creature already has a stinger attack or Claw attacks.

Full Attack[edit]

A yelp fighting without weapons uses its natural weapons. If armed with a weapon, it usually uses the weapon as its primary attack along with a stinger as a natural secondary attack.

Damage[edit]

The Stinger Attack gained by a yelp deals either 1d6 damage (if medium sized) or 1d4 (if small sized). The Claw attack gained by a yelp deals either 1d3 damage (if medium sized) or 1d2 (if small sized).

Special Attacks[edit]

A Yelp retains all the base creature’s special attacks and gains those described below. Save DCs are equal to 10 + 1/2 ghoul’s HD + ghoul’s Cha modifier unless otherwise noted.

Hunter of the Dawn (Su): A yelp with 5 or more HD gains fast healing 2 as long as he is in bright light.

Hidden Stinger (Ex): A Yelp's stinger is concealed until it is used in an attack. Once the Yelp has attacked it can hide its Stinger again as a free action.

Turn Resistance (Ex): A yelp has +2 turn resistance.

Abilities[edit]

Ability scores remain the same.

Skills[edit]

Yelps have a +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, Sense Motive, and Spot checks per 5 HD. Otherwise same as the base creature.

Challenge Rating[edit]

Same as the base creature + 1.

Treasure[edit]

Standard Goods.

Advancement[edit]

By character class.

Level Adjustment[edit]

Same as the base creature +1.
