Snowstormer[edit]

These warriors are born and raised in the harsh northern lands, their prowess is know throughout the lands. They fight with different weapons and styles than most fighters, and have a small amount of spellcasting.

Making a Snowstormer[edit]

Snowstormers work best inside regions with snow, or in the wintertime. They are skilled, with a small level of spontaneous casting. However, they have abrasive and cold personalities, which reduces their ability to interact with others.

Abilities: A snowstormer's most important abilities are Strength and Constitution. They also benefit from high Wisdom, Dexterity and Intelligence scores.

Races: Snowstormers are commonly from the arctic reaches, but it is not unheard of to have normal races join their ranks.

Alignment: Any.

Starting Gold: 3d8×10 gp. for military background, 2d4×2 gp. for non-military background. (Snowstormers with military backgrounds have better initial equipment.)

Starting Age: Simple.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the snowstormer.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Snowstormers have proficiency with all simple weapons and martial weapons, as well as the Bastard Sword and the Bolas. They are also proficient with light armor and medium armor and shields(except the tower shield).

Weapon Focus: The Snowstormer receives the Weapon Focus feat for any weapon he is proficient with.

Frostweapon(Ex): A Snowstormer relies on his understanding of heat and cold to deal damage. He deals an extra 1d6 points of damage on all attacks he makes. This extra damage increases to 2d6 at 5th level and increases by 1d6 every 4 levels thereafter (2d6 at 5th, 3d6 at 9th, etc.) and the Snowstormer only applies the extra damage for ranged weapons if the target is within an area twice the size of his Base Land Speed.

Shattersunder: A Snowstormer uses his great strength to make his opponent's weapons splinter. He receives a +4 bonus to attack rolls and damage when sundering an object.

Grasping Step(Ex): At 2nd level, a Snowstormer can find the exact places in ice and snow that will allow him to traverse quickly. He takes no movement penalties when traversing terrain covered in ice or snow, and takes only 2 movement squares to move through heavy snow instead of four. He only takes a DC 7 Balance to run or a DC 8 Balance to Charge across a patch of icy ground.

Icecoating(Su): At level 4, a Snowstormer gains the ability to coat a 10ft. by 10ft. area in slippery ice. He can use this ability only on surfaces that he is adjacent to. These surfaces melt off in warm weather after 2d6 hours, in hot, after 1d4 hours. Any creatures already standing in the square that a Snowstormer is freezing must roll a relfex check, DC 10+the Snowstormer's HD, or become unable to move, turn around or kick. He starts off only being able to do this 3 times per day, every four levels this increases by 2(8th 5/day, 12th 7/day, etc.).

Iceclimb(Ex): At 6th Level, a Snowstormer learns how to traverse vertical surfaces covered in ice or snow. He needs not make a climb check to traverse snow or ice covered vertical surfaces and gains +10 to all climb checks made when upside down on a snow or ice covered surface, retaining his dexterity bonus to his armor class. He also gains a climb speed of 20ft on these surfaces.

Cold Resistance: At 6th level, a Snowstormer can resist cold better than others. He ignores the first 5 cold damage he is dealt, and his possessions receive no adverse affects. At 11th level he ignores the first 15 cold damage he is dealt.

Storm of Shards(Sp): At 15th level, a Snowstormer can cause a flurry of ice shards to encompass a 30ft. radius 3 times per day. All subjects within that radius take 5d6 bludgeoning damage and 3d6 cold damage disregarding resistance to cold damage. Creatures also get -4 to Listen and Spot checks, as well as being reduced to half speed. This effect lasts for 1d2 rounds.

Dazzling Snows(Sp): At 15th level, a Snowstormer can summon the snows to dance in hypnotic patterns before a subject's eyes. 3 times per day, he can summon a flurry of snows that leave up to half his HD of creatures Dazzled and Fascinated for 2d4 rounds. The subjects effectively become helpless for 1d3 rounds. This only works on subjects who can see.

Blade of the North(Ex): At 19th level, a Snowstormer may charge his weapon and release an utterly cold blast. He charges his weapon for two rounds, leaving him helpless and only able to move half his speed. No other action may be taken. Upon completing the charge, he unleashes a cone of pure cold that extends twice his base land speed from the tip of his weapon. If a creature has less HD than him, it is killed upon contact with the cone. If the creature has more HD than him, it takes 6d6 cold damage and 2d6 force damage upon contact. Any liquid possessions carried by the creature are now frozen and unusable for 7d6 hours. All fires within 10ft. of the cone are put out. Medium and smaller creatures in contact with the cone are knocked over. This ability may only be used once per day.

Cold Immunity(Ex): At 20th level, a Snowstormer has adapted to the freezing cold in a way none else can. He ignores all cold damage and his possessions take no adverse effects from cold damage.
