Lizardfolk - Gecko Morph[edit]

Gecko morphs are a variety of Lizardfolk native to tropical climes.

Skill Bonuses: +2 Perception, +2 Stealth
Reptilian: Your race is reptilian and is cold-blooded. You have the reptile keyword, so you are considered a reptile for the purpose of effects that relate to that keyword.
Gecko Climbing: You gain a +5 racial bonus to Athletics checks related to climbing.
Forestwalk: You ignore difficult terrain caused by forest conditions (such as protruding roots or rough, uneven ground).
Sidestep Attack: You can use sidestep attack as an at-will power.
Iron Stomach: As a result of your bizarre diet, you are resistant to the long-term effects of poisons. You gain a +5 saving throw bonus against ongoing poison damage.
Camouflage: Your skin changes color rapidly to match your mood or your surroundings. When you are wearing light armour you may make a stealth check to become hidden when you have any concealment or cover (normally you would need total concealment or superior cover).

Physical Qualities[edit]

Gecko morph lizardfolk are a breed of lizardfolk native to tropical climates. They prefer hot and wet places such as rainforests. Their appearance is more similar to a day gecko than their more iguana-like marsh-dwelling cousins. They are lithe and flexible, rather than being big and beefy. They have flat heads accentuated by big black eyes and a wide mouth full of small, sharp teeth. They have no eyelids and use their long sticky tongues to clean off the skin covering their eyes. Their fingers and toes are tipped with wide pads that give them an excellent grip on anything they touch, whether it's a wall they are climbing or the weapon they are holding. They are usually a vivid bright green color but their hides can change color in symmetrical patterns according to their mood, such as a dark blue to signify sadness or a fiery red to indicate anger. They can also alter their coloration to assist them in hiding. Their movements are usually jerky and they are able to remain still for a very long time. This gives them a rather disconcerting appearance to most other races.

Playing a Gecko Morph[edit]

Gecko morph tribes tend to keep to themselves, living minimalistic lives amongst the tall trees and steep cliffs where they make their homes. They are not usually openly hostile to interlopers, choosing instead to avoid unnecessary conflict by hiding and staying out of reach. They tend to be impatient and have a short attention span, and are not afraid to let everyone know what they think or feel about a particular issue.

Gecko morphs are naturally adept climbers, taking to trees and cliffs with the same ease that most other humanoids have walking. As land-dwellers, they do not have the natural swimming ability or lung capacity of the common lizardfolk. Their diet is also much more varied. They are effectively omnivores, devouring small animals, insects, fruit, mushrooms, etc. They are not above eating fresh carrion and although they usually do not hunt they are known to do so from time to time. They rarely bother to cook their food, either, though they might do so with delicacies on special occasions. For the most part, though, they simply gobble up whatever looks appetizing to them (almost anything, basically) using their long sticky tongues to grasp it and then swallow it whole, letting the rocks in their gizzards grind down any tough bits.

Geckos are egg-layers and they raise their children communally. They do not worship any gods but instead revere the spirits of nature. Their lifespan is somewhat shorter than a human's.
