This is a laser beam gun, it's meant to fire a continuous concentrated beam of energy and only stop once either you let go of the trigger or you run out of ammo, it comes in any type of irregular damage type you can think of from fire, ice, lightning, acid, poison, radiant, force, and necrotic, just about any damage type except slashing, bludgeoning, and piercing.

Special Make a ranged attack⁠ against a creature. On a hit, the target takes the weapons listed damage, and on each of your turns until you reload, stow, or switch to another target with the weapon, you can as part of your attack action and 1 ammunition to deal the weapons listed damage to the target automatically. The effect ends if you use your action to do anything else. This effect also ends if the target is ever outside the weapon’s range or if it has full cover from you.
