I just came up with them just as an idea. Canonically, they probably can only come from mammals, and I just picked Cuttlefish because they were both interesting and strikingly bright, for a species without a spine. They were originally going to be octopi, but I ended up using cuttlefish because they're more well-known for their color-changing abilities. And I kinda...felt...like it. Yeah. That's it. :V - Lakidaa (I'm the one that came up with this, and I just randomly found this wiki. It's nice to see it somewhere else :3)
