LA Adjustment[edit]

Sorry, Rocket - this is definitely not an LA 0 race. The unbalanced stat mods, skill bonuses and maybe Darkvision taken alone would probably be a strong LA 0, but you've got the Natural Attack (which I split out the Powerful Charge, since it really is an added ability), Powerful Build and Natural Armor to boot. I'd rate this as a strong LA +2, especially since a big chunk of the negative mods are in Cha, which can easily be a dump stat for a bruiser like this. I'll leave him listed as LA Unknown until further discussion. --Oneiros 09:45, 29 June 2006 (MDT)

Yeah, I agree, the LA is off, so I'm going to adopt this old page and see what I can do with it. Hopefully, fewer than 2 years will pass before someone else comments again. --Ganteka 13:41, 5 September 2008 (MDT)

Notes from the Author[edit]

The following was removed from the race's description and placed here for formatting purposes, plus, it seems more appropriate, since it really is just discussion material on how the race was built.

"This is basically what happens when I use a template a user on wizards.com has suggested, 4 abilites and 8 skills, and I then try to LA + 0 a MM monster.

Then I create some backstory, and make up some stuff that sounds plausible, base some of the stuff on the Tauren from Warcraft 3, and there you have it, my own homebrew ready to be anything you feel like it being Minotaur!

I prefer the MM Minotaur to that one, so I changed it around a lot to make it more MM-like. I also made it meaner, gruffer, and less attrative, like a minotaur living off the land would be, am I right? I really hate losing Physical attributes, especially since DEX is very important to the Barbarian. I compromised horn damage for Darkvision. I built this race on the MM Minotaur toned it down and used the Hebitsuikaza method of race building which is 4 abilities, and 8 skill points."

Reverted Edits and Possible LA 1 Variant[edit]

I un-did a recent edit that had added in +2 Constitution, +2 Dexterity and increased base land speed to 40 feet. This is not balanced (and simply silly) for a LA 0 race without attributing any other balancing factors. While these changes alone might not warrant a full Level Adjustment, I'd consider adding them to a variant LA 1 with a couple other changes if someone would like to make suggestions. --Ganteka 16:39, 26 January 2009 (MST)

Alignment[edit]

I would say that a caste system or other existing traditions would shift them towards a lawful alignment, not necessarily a good alignment. The opposite is also applicable; anarchy would likely foster a chaotic and not necessarily evil alignment. Just for your consideration, I get the idea that minotaurs would almost be evil by default, with the only common variation being between law and chaos. -ThunderGod Cid 18:25, 10 March 2009 (MDT)

Yeah, I really should just overhaul the whole "Alignment" section of the article. I think it was originally intended to show that they could be good or evil depending on how they were raised, so yeah, I think I'll just change it to say that. Thanks for the input. --Ganteka 19:48, 10 March 2009 (MDT)
